The Supreme Court is illegitimate.

Why did Obama back down when he had every right to appoint Garland during his term? I don’t get it.

The republicans twist the rules and our representatives don’t put up a fight?

One has to wonder how sincere the Democrats are.

“But even before Obama had named Garland, and in fact only hours after Scalia's death was announced, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared any appointment by the sitting president to be null and void. He said the next Supreme Court justice should be chosen by the next president — to be elected later that year.” NPR. June 29, 20185:00 AM ET

Democrats confuse civility with political warfare... we are up against Hitler, racism, vulgarians like Trump, scum like Barr, scoundrels like Abbott and DeSantis, Hawley and Fair, Noem and Moscow Mitch, and the ONLY language they understand is well understood in MOSCOW, NORTH KOREA, SAUDI ARABIA, HUNGARY, AND TH GOP...

Because America has always been a 'bland' country. When everything was good/you did not vote.

You never questioned education?

The horror to you all is going left of centre because you do not know the difference between Socialism/liberal socialism and communism.

What choice did President Obama have? Mitch McConnell held the legislation control by a stupid Senate (and House) rule that gives one Senator (or one Congress person) the right to determine which legislation goes to committee and which is permanently withheld. Why this rule exists, I have no idea. It is undemocratic. I don't know about you Mark, but I was never given the opportunity to vote for or against Mitch McConnell. Why should he, or any other Senator, have more power that the P:resident of the United States? Yet the Senate majority leader and the Speaker of the House of Representatives [representing single district in a State) have the power to determine what legislation will even be considered. This "rule" gives dictatorial power to a single person in each House.

...and neither did we all take to the streets a la France...we the exhausted sheeple working 2&3 jobs just to put food on the table and keep a roof over our deluded heads that any of us have any choice in the matter (until we ourselves decide that we do!)

Exactly. Like Tuberville blocking promotions. How does one person from one little state get to block a nationally important item? McConnell is the worst. Blame this mess on the citizens of Ky for voting him in.

Yes, the Fascists (I refuse to call them Republicans) show up with cannons, and the Dems show up with pea shooters.

He didn't back down. McConnell refused his right to appoint Garland and would not countenance any appointment.

McConnell would not bring it to a floor vote in the Senate.

It is quite murky isn't it?

What needs to happen is set up rules, codify the rules, that if an opening happens due to whatever reason, the current POTUS cannot be blocked from nominating a candidate and from having a hearing in both house and senate. Can't leave something so critical up to one person. It's not democratic.

Dress rehearsal is over… my fellow Democrats: most all is local.. but this is international. Fascism is the ugly underbelly of tribal humanity… as common as my dog lifting his leg to pee. But my dog is delightful, save when he pees on the flowers. He’s learning. Donald Trump and his followers are learning disabled, and they are peeing on the rest of us.. take note. Civility will not cut any ice with fascists. The HUN is at your feet or at your neck, Leader Winston Spenser Churchill… said, describing the HUN of ALL TIME till Putin: Adolf Hitler… after his predecessor in parliament had said England could live with him. We cannot live with fascism… it’s war, and we must not blink.
