Mike... it's Christmas Eve -- and I Soooooo enjoyed listening to this message. Looking forward to the "new tsunami." I am Michigan born and bred and have been a blue dot in the red state of Georgia for over 40 years now.
But I want to offer you and readers my own Christmas story. It comes from late 1950s Detroit.
I learned the meaning of Christmas (and life) as a precocious 7-year-old going to JL Hudson's in downtown Detroit in the late 50s to visit Santa Claus -- in a scene out of Christmas Story.
I did NOT want to go. I insisted to my Mom that I was only going to escort my younger brother and sister -- who were true believers. I honestly and accurately describe myself at 7 and 8 as a snot-nosed, smart-alecky kid that Life is just waiting for around the corner (with brass knuckles).
And so Santa spoke with my brother and sister and then motioned for me to come up. I was having none of the "sit-on-my-knee" crap, but still went next to him. He asked some questions that I answered in my usual smart-alecky way, copping a major attitude. And then he asked me if I liked school. "Aaaah it's OK," I replied snidely.
"Are you getting good grades?" "Aaaah, mostly B's and some A'.s" He then put his arm around me to draw me close so he could whisper the following in my ear: "Hey kid, Stick with the books. You never want to end up with a $hit job like this one." The assembled crowd witnessed a seven year old kid with his jaw on the floor, and Santa ROARING with laughter.
This is Michigan, Mike... you know it. I carried the story in my head for years before I ever told it. But before he passed in November of 2016 -- a terrible year -- my Dad, of blessed memory, would beg me to recount the story at every Christmas gathering. He'd double over as if hearing it for the first time.
Merry Christmas to you & your dear ones, Mike. And thank you for the gift of your Rumble podcast this eve. (Also, I wrote Pres. Biden on behalf of Leonard Peltier.) All best going forward in 2023.
Thank you, Michael, again and again, for all you offer: hope, guidance, and good information about how each of us can make a difference. I have written to President Biden, as you suggested, begging him to intervene on behalf of freeing Leonard Pelletier.
Thank you for everything. May you be blessed with health and happiness in 2023.
Delightful and pragmatically empowering -- Michael Moore, you rock!
Phone banking for GOTV into Georgia, I reached various people who said exactly that: They are blue dots in a sea of red. I wish there were a way to get them your upcoming series!
Thanks, Michael. As someone who lives in Texas--where Republican voters are still cackling about having defeated Beto O'Rourke and where more than half of registered voters didn't bother to go out and vote because they thought this election wasn't important--I will listen to the podcasts.
Merry Christmas, my dear friend!!! I hope you have a wonderful day spent with those you love! Thank you for the gift of hope and for being our leader in times of desperation and grief. You made a great difference in my life. When I felt sadness and anger your voice brought me strength and power. Keep it going for us, Mike. We love you lots!!! Hugs and kisses sent your way!
My dad was in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific too Mike. He never wanted to talk about his experience there and he became a pacifist because of it.
Thank you for setting the stage for a Christmas eve. Our celebration is very minimal these days, but it was a nice stroll down memory lane. Blessed Christmas to you and yours.

First thing, Christmas morning, I'm writing to Mr. Biden to beg him to release Mr. Peltier.
And ...done.
