Became a paid member because of this episode. I agree with you 100%. We cannot go to war with Russia. I'm not willing to sacrifice my 19yr old son. There is no way in hell.

Thank you for saying exactly how I've been feeling these past few weeks.

Me,too. What a lift to hear you say it so passionately, Michael. Can’t stand to hear the beat of war. Will join with you to say “No”.

Agree with everything you said. We can outsmart Putin and support Ukraine with other means. Please share with us any groups you believe are providing aid. I’ve donated to UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and yes, the Red Cross because they have the infrastructure in place. When I saw the photo of the mom and her two kids and their pet carrier sprawled in the ground, I was overcome. Please guide us to be of service in some way.

Dear Michael

Thank you for your efforts to awaken the American Public to the MOUNTAINS of harmful, bloody and very stupid propaganda in the Western Media. Even in The UK the BBC is very guilty of this. Thanks as ever John Sanger.

Let's pass a law that requires everyone, together with all of their children, who profit from war to don uniforms, pick up arms and be deployed to the front lines.

No, that’s what we must not do. It would be the same as America going to war and making things worse. Meanwhile, you’re right—there should be no war profiteers.

I think you miss the point. Michael is right. We are being lured into war, but we are being lured into war by people who have no skin in the game and only stand to profit.

The point is that the profiteers themselves do not pay for their wars and take no personal risks. With the all volunteer military, neither they nor their progeny have to get involved and can sit back comfortably and enjoy their profits while everyone else pays the price. I suggest that we make them pay if they want to play.

Wasn’t fully aware until I listened to this podcast just how effectively I was being manipulated by the media. I really needed to hear this and am frightened by how quickly my mindset had been turned from its initial fear of WWIII, to a “we need to stop this at any cost”. I appreciate the wake up call. Right after listening to the podcast I was scrolling my phone and up pops a headline from Fox News (Apple seems to promote them) that says: “Model Who Trashes Putin Found Dead in Suitcase”. If you read the article it is clear this had nothing to do with Putin, her boyfriend has confessed. We all need to be much more careful about how we are being manipulated by the media.

Yea, I felt and feel that way too…but gees. This is just not worth the devastation war is for anyone. Putin needs to settle for the territory he took and act like a leader for his country, Ukraine will not join nato, continuing to give Putin the power he uses to devastate Ukraine , but Ukraine can build their arsenal too, if Putin deals. It’s Putin’s war. Putin does not want nuclear war. I do not think so. He wants Ukraine and he’s not going to get it without loss…lots of loss for his people, his friends, himself and his soldiers. I’m not surprised that he’s a fascist dictator. I’m surprised that others don’t understand fascism , totalitarianism, dictatorships and how deceptive power can be. It seems I waste much of my time on senseless arguments and share my knowledge on deaf ears, that have the same power as me…none..lol at least , here I get like minds . It’s scary, but it’s the way the US has worked for it’s entire history. Of coarse if a war in Europe broke out on NATO territory, it would be cause for us to enter the war, but it won’t. Not this time…this is Putin’s Hail Mary …dumb fuck…just sayin. No one wants war. We want peace for all nations and sovereignty, independence for our European ancestors. Why am I so attached? It’s my DNA. But truly , I want Putin to go home.

Michael. Long time listener, first time caller. I agree with your assessment: since WWII, American military intervention has not been successful.

This may be a radical idea, but what about a civil American intervention? I would be happy to be part of a group of Americans willing to "invade" Ukraine in an effort to provide aid and comfort to those whose suffering we see and hear all day. As a young man, served a two year religious mission in southern Spain. It was a marvelous opportunity to put aside my interests and work to better the lives of others. It is, ironically, the same religious mission that Mitt Romney cited as an excuse for his strapping young lads to forgo a tour in Iraq.

There is historical precedent for peaceful service and intervention. It would be dangerous, but it would be outrageously good trouble!

Cheers,

John

I think that’s already happening. Good idea for those who want to do it, although it’s risky.

Mission accomplished, two Senators contacted, one Congresswoman called, two offices were actually manned and answering, and one email to Oresudent Biden. Thank you for focusing our efforts and taking me personally back from that brink of emotional weakness where I was almost ready to start demanding blood. As a Vietnam Vet I should know better and I was clear in conveying to my reps that I don’t want to see the children of other Americans sacrificed to the war machine yet again! Thank you so very much!

Mark Twain said:

"The loud little handful - as usual - will shout for the war. The pulpit will warily and cautiously - object... at first. The great, big, dull bulk of the nation will rub its sleepy eyes and try to make out why there should be a war, and will say, earnestly and indignantly, "It is unjust and dishonorable, and there is no necessity for it." Then the handful will shout louder. A few fair men on the other side will argue and reason against the war with speech and pen, and at first will have a hearing and be applauded, but it will not last long; those others will out shout them, and presently the antiwar audiences will thin out and lose popularity.

Before long, you will see this curious thing: the speakers stoned from the platform, and free speech strangled by hordes of furious men... Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.” The Mysterious Stranger (1910)

As Martin Luther King, Jr said: "The problem of racism, the problem of economic exploitation, and the problem of war are all tied together. These are the triple evils that are interrelated.” We can stand up to the “loud, little handful” by coming together and actively addressing that which keeps us separated. I work about 1/3 of a mile from the US's second largest naval base, in San Diego. When I park to go to work the rich people's yachts are in front of me, the poor people's yachts to the right. There was a yacht parked there, The Eminence, that belongs to one of those Russian oligarchs, a former government minister. Check it out. It has its own wiki page. But what is it doing 1/3 of a mile from the naval base?

Thanks, Mike. You’re right about the war monger I guess. Oh, I’m really trying to be quiet, but it’s scary. I really think Putin needs to settle for the Ukraine not joining NATO for their independence. But, we know this Putin thing is not over…
