Wow, Michael. Just, wow. I am pumped up. I am a 76 yr old female expat and have lived in Mexico for 2 years. Why, because I struggled as a single mother, got into debt, still owe student loans since 2007 and couldn't afford to live in America anymore. When I visit family in Oregon I am astounded by the growth and the number of homeless on the streets. I come back exhausted and troubled. America has neglected the problem of racial strife for too long and it has reared its ugly head and will not go away without us voting, marching, phoning, writing etc.

I am with you 100% and truly believe it is time for Democrats to realize the time is now for restoring justice and compassion back into our society.

Many thanks for all you do.

Cathi.

Dee Smider won’t be yelling at YOU for using this song, like he has some other unfortunate and ignorant folks!

Thank you for this podcast; you are a great motivational speaker, and we need hope right now. We need to feel some optimism.

Thank you also for letting us hear Freddie Mercury’s voice today. He was a beautiful soul, lost to us, in part because the people in power at that time didn’t think gay people were worth saving. 💔

The SCOTUS overtuning Roe v Wade is actually a gift to us as women are registering to vote in record numbers to "Keep it legal to keep it safe"- which has been my mantra since the early 70's when I was a young nurse working in the ER of the county hospital in the Tx Med Center in Houston. I cared for way too many septic women who had botched back alley abortions, and sadly way too many died. We can't go back. Women are pissed off and ready to vote blue. I know I am. The Republicans shot themselves in the foot on this issue. ROEVEMBER is going to be a Dem rout and I can't wait to cast my vote.

The Democrats are on track for big wins in November. The Republicans, already a minority, are divided into Trump supporters; a sliver who think of themselves as Traditional Conservatives who oppose Trump; and former Trump supporters who have lost their enthusiasm. Those may not turn out to vote at all, especially for the truly bizarre candidates who have been nominated in some places. They will not be able to muster sufficient numbers to prevail over Democratic candidates. Gerrymandering, voter suppression and 2020 election deniers in positions of election administration are serious problems. We need to continue to fight for fairness. But if voters turn out and vote for Democrats, it’s a lock on both the House and the Senate, and many state offices as well.

Damn right!!! Overwhelm the tRumplicans at the polls and ram the agenda down their throats. When they start crying about bi-partisanship it is a trap because tRumplicans will never vote for any Democratic initiative and any attempt to gain their input, adjust so that "They" would support the legislation, it is a lie, they have NEVER worked with Democrats on anything substantive in this century and they NEVER WILL. Overwhelm tRumplicans at the polls and initiate the 21st century!!!

Sorry to put a damper on things, but Australia would have been a better example than Canada. Oz just kicked out the Conservative Prime Minister ScoMo, Scott Morrison, and are rewarded with some entertaining scandals. Canada's Justin Trudeau defeated the very Trumpian Stephen Harper in 2015, had a minority government re elected in 2019, and is now dependent on the support of the NDP to keep the Progressive Conservatives most Trumpian candidate, Pierre Poilievre, from calling a new election. Pierre Poilievre is Trump with brains and even less of an ethical standard. He wants to use bitcoin as legal tender and fire the head of the Canadian banking system and 'privatize' our health care. The Cons have a large voting base for no reason that I can determine. There is a very serious rightwing nutcase problem in Canada and the country looks a lot more like the USA than it did when I moved here 14 years ago. Who knows, I may have to move back to the USA in 2025 if they take over the country again. The USA and Canada appear to be moving in opposite pendulum actions.

Totally agree with you Mike ! Democrats have a strange penchant for losing a easily winnable election. We need to ensure that come November this majority that Michael is talking about goes to the polls as if it is their national duty (religious too if you like !) and not stay at home.

I listened to you after President Biden spoke to America last night.....long overdue but right on point. And so are you Michael - thanks! One suggestion: even if you can't contribute money to every candidate (pick a couple and support) make a list and "affirm, every day, that they win their elections and ALL insurrectionists are defeated". (MIchael, my list is similar to yours and more!)

Hoping everyone will take time today to remember author Barbara Ehrenreich, who wrote "Nickle and Dimed' (2001) and "Bright-Sided" (2009), books which explored the working poor and obliterated the myth of pulling oneself "up by the bootstraps." She passed away on September 1st and her obituary in the Washington Post today begins "Author challenged the notion of the American Dream."

Michael championed her work and I urge anyone unfamiliar to research her legacy and most importantly read her books.

The work continues, "my friends", as Michael would say and thankfully we have this space and his support to remain in the fight, insuring everyone gets lifted up

Thanks to Michael and everyone in this community for giving me a hopeful place to escape to!
