My parents moved from Moosejaw, Saskatchewan (during the Depression) to Huntington Park, CA. My mother became a US citizen and voted in every election. I went with her to vote for Harry Truman. (Her friend, a Republican, stayed home and did not vote, she knew Dewey was going to win.) My Dad worked for Convair during WWII and in 1949, when the jobs began to fade we moved from Bayview Terrace (Pacific Beach)CA to Ft. Worth, TX. I was 13. Texas was NOT what I expected…. my college, North Texas State integrated on the Graduate level my Sr.Yr. 1957 (I think) I hitched a ride with a woman who helped integrate the college…. She helped me understand why NTSC was able to avoid any demonstrations, crossburnings, phamphlets on campus…. The President had it cleaned up before the students went to class…. He told the new Graduate students that they were welcome to talk to the Press IN HIS OFFICE…. “It was the law of the land, and he would see to it that North Texas complied” (my words, his action)…. Down the road at another college, riots, crossburnings, did occur. And the year that NTSC was fully integrated, a young athlete named Joe Green was enrolled…. All of this and YOU are how I hold on to hope…. Thank YOU

I watched the movie Nuremberg the other day and just can’t wrap my mind around the fact how another human can turn a blind eye to genocide. In fact, the blind eye people have the nerve to try and convince you that another country has the right to this genocide and we should just shut the hell up! Worse yet some use the cover of Christianity to defend their stand. Me screaming inside is what you are hearing.
Get off the phone and help a fellow hard worker. Gather in in p-person groups, we started a writing group in our area...a new Beat Poets group of sorts, we have a Printing press and a hand crank film projector we are teaching the public to use. 😉 We will survive. But we do have to help each other! I am mystified as to what to do for Gaza. I have talked to my legislators, I have sent donations to Gaza. But I hear the help is not getting to them. Even the flotilla ran into difficulty. Are we even getting the real news? I am so worried but not sure what is helping them? Hats off to your family's history in the Unions!!! Power to the people!!! In fact don't work for factories at all!!! Start your own businesses and never get as big as a corporation!!! 😉
I have to disagree with the thought that the Israelis are conducting ethnic cleansing. Netanyahu is conducting ethnic cleansing with the support of his far right.
An overwhelming portion of the Israels population anti-Netanyahu. They can't get him out of office due to a constitutional law which says the prime minister can't be replaced during war time. Ergo they are stuck with him until the war is over. And the reason he continues the war is that he stays out of jail for crimes he has committed and tried for and found guilty. Any of this sound familiar? Yeah, I thought it did.

The California Democratic Convention, years ago, voted to pass the resolution that a friend and I wrote for universal healthcare. That didn't go very far. The DNC just ignored it. They say, "everyone has a right to healthcare" but they'll be damned if they're going to do anything about it. "Incremental" doens't cut it.
Mamdani showed that you don't need tons of money. But yes to tons (literally!) of volunteers! I plan to do some work for Butch Ware for CA governor. As for 2028, usually if someone says (better yet, shows) that they are for Medicare for All, then chances are they are also for the environment, against war, for universal education. I hear people wanting to vote for someone with a chance at winning, so, oftentimes, the Lesser of Two Evils. When I go precinct walking I tell people that their vote is their voice. Everyone should vote for the person they want, and hopefully, there's someone on the ballot who reflects their values.
Thank you, Michael, for standing up for truth and justice. I'm glad you escaped the terrorist attack at the airport, but I'm so very sorry for the people whose lives were taken. We have to stand up and fight back against Trump and all the haters.

On January 6, 2 years ago, he incited a riot that killed numerous people and declared it a “day of love”. At 82 years old, I have never seen such horror in a land we once called great. We need a leader to bring us all together and have our own day of love. We need to be willing to fight to the death if necessary to preserve democracy. Many have died doing just that. We have to stop spouting platitudes at those who are desenting and take real action. We allow this fascist to ridicule Americans who march against him by shitting on them in a mock cartoon. We complain without action. We are the Eloy and the Morlocks will drive us underground unless we take action. Talk is cheap and we go nowhere but to a total dictatorship unless we act together and stop this any way possible. Billionaires are flesh and blood. Remember that the real power is with the people if we want it.
