I belong to two book clubs and was thinking could I commit to one more. However I have been hearing a lot about Thomas Paine over the past few months and decided I would really love to revisit Common Sense. So here I am joining a book club hosted by one of my favorite progressives…Michael Moore. Yes count me in starting off with Thomas Paine. Maybe I will at least gain some understanding of what causes the people I love to think Donald Trump is not just correct but normal, so far I have only been able to stare at them with a blank look on my face. Hopefully I will find a strong argument in what I read that will change their minds.

Hi! My name is Irene, I’m so excited to be in a book club with Michael Moore! 💙🎉 Currently reading The Book Thief. WWII stories are close to my heart because my maternal matriarchs were genuine anti fascists during the war. They were German Czechs (or Czech speaking Germans, however you want to look at it), who did whatever they could in the resistance in Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia. I am very proud of my matriarchs and detest fascism and all that goes along with it, including what’s happening under this “administration”. Also re-reading Smirk (I and II), a political satire novel about the GW Bush administration, written and self published by a dear friend of mine. He’s also working on one about this “administration.”

Hi, I’m Margo from Watsonville, CA (south of SF). I’m retired most recently from teaching kindergarten, but before that from social work and before that being a legal aide lawyer. I just finished One Day Everyone Will Always Have Been Against This, which inspired me to start reading Light in Gaza. When I’m done with that, I think I’ll read A Confederacy of Dunces.

So we just share in this forum?

Nothing to fill out to join? Do we read and discuss in a particular order? Just learning how to do this online. 📕📕

Im in for them all. Have read a few so will revisit. My name is Marilyn. Semi retired psychologist and sometime writer. Always reader. The Revolution is already happening here in smaller tribes of good humans…Keeping the resistance strong and taking breaks to rest and read and reflect and sleep. 💤

Yep, that’s the plan. Introduce yourself here, then go to the pages and read and leave your own comments. That’s it!

I'm David A. from Brooklyn. In the process of retiring from academic computer science, in favor of electric blues and activism. Shared Michael's politics for 30 years and then moved sharply to the left, but I still love and appreciate Michael. I have never read ENOUGH and maybe this club will help me. I'm starting out with "Confederacy..." because I've always been curious about it.

Hi, all, my name is Will Jones, from the Great State of Minnesota, "The Land of 10,000 Lakes." Actually, it's 11,842, but who's counting? I intend to focus on Paine and Camus, or as much as I can get through. I look forward to sharing thoughts with you all. And thanks, Michael, for this. At my age, my brain needs stimulation...
