Until I read Caste, by Isabel Wilkerson, I did not know the Nazis came to the US to study our "advanced" ways of oppression, and they modeled some of their tactics after the white supremacists here. I appreciate this series; thank you!
Twas great seeing you on Bill Maher’s show! I must say though he’s turning me off lately eg, anti-masking. For the first time later that night I saw you, I cut him off early and changed channels when he claimed during ‘New Rules’ that AOC was wrong claiming ‘so many hate women’. WTF is wrong with him? Did he not listen to you earlier? I think not. While you were passionately conveying the outrage of >50% Americans, his ginormous ego was counting the seconds viewers hadn’t heard his voice.
He won’t hear me. But he’ll hear you if you phone him while he’s toking in his hot tub. Please tell him I wonder if he knows the % women in California who are rape victims. Please tell him I wonder if he’s ever had to turn around and leave hurriedly out of utter physical fear. Please tell him I think he’s quite fortunate no government has legislated against his human-right of self-determination and choice of health care.
Thanks for reading my rant. Love you Mike! Regards, Brenda 🇨🇦
Hi Brenda, I watch Bill Maher almost every Friday. I agree with what you’re saying about Bill’s inflated ego. But, that’s become part of his shtick. Clearly he and Michael are great friends and Michael wasn’t offended by any of it. I agree 100% there’s a fear and hatred of women. We are very powerful and we are just waking up to newfound ways to flex it. This is the time and place to bend the ballot box to our will. We are not 2nd class citizens and we will stand up to those who stand against us.
I quit watching Maher some years ago. His inability to make distinctions while painting with a broad brush is but one of many shticks that I find off putting. In his view there's little difference between the Dalai Lama and Pat Robertson. That plus his irritating mannerisms began to grate on me, like the way he starts a leading question with high pitched voice and smarmy grin. I decided it was time to move on.
Michael, you are my bellwether in this terrible storm. But I know the BLUE TSUNAMI is coming. I share every one of your words of wisdom with my FB and Twitter followers. I am with you and with all The People.
Thank you again Michael! Here I’ve been hoping for a focus on the ‘loser’ call to action, for street smart and country wise citizens, and you delivered yet again, big time.
Jeopardy bonus round -- Answer: Loser. Q: What is Don T’s epitaph?
Your graphic is powerful; also consider the Klan and Italian Fascism as line items, understand they are implied in confederate and adolf logos . . . trying to think of logos for the oppositions to women’s rights, multiple dimensions there, probably obvious . . . -- best luck to US, b.rad
Thanks Michael...., (and, not but) what occurs to me is that the schmuckpublicans might be pleased at all the truths and facts we point out because they don’t give a shit about those items and it keeps us distracted from focusing on efforts towards kicking their asses with solutions!..... juss sayin’.
Mike, your Midterm Tsunami Truth series, is powerful, encouraging and much appreciated! I look forward to reading every post. I am fortunate to be able donate to several campaigns including two tight congressional races as well as our Dem senate and governor candidates in my home state of Pennsylvania. I will commit time to volunteer to help get out the vote in the coming weeks. Thank you for ALL that you do on behalf of our precious democracy!
Education, reading, awareness of histories past and present-- how did we get here?-- is sobering and centering, in my experience. "Beating" the other has never appealed to me. I am non-competitive. Crushing the soul of another is cruel.
That said, accepting and allowing change, cooperating with it, respect for the other-- these are the shifts that float my boat. I see lots of shifts happening.
Thanks for your passion, Mike. And the dialogue of all in this community. You have helped me a lot.
George Monbiot has a fine Climate read in The Guardian. Wedn. 9/28/2022.
Also a fine piece on the Governor of Oregon, all the people involved in criminal justice reform there, and the very decent and humane outcomes for so many.
I know the focus here is on Roe-vember-- I just wanted to note these 2 other stories.
Lastly, on the front page of today's CapeCod.com, there is a link to a photo of Windmill Beach in South Yarmouth. It's the place I released John's ashes last Winter Solstice, Dec. 21, 2021.
I hope you feel the peace of the place. I hope that peace is within you ALL this day. Be well. VOTE.
A bellwether is a leader or an indicator of trends.[1]
In politics, the term often applies in a metaphorical sense to characterize a geographic region where political tendencies match in microcosm those of a wider area, such that the result of an election in the former region might predict the eventual result in the latter. In economics, a 'bellwether' is a leading indicator of an economic trend.[1][2]
Sociologists apply the term in the active sense to a person or group of people who tend to create, influence, or set trends.
Thank you for this article. I totally agree with this sentence: "This system must be changed."
The Electoral College needs to be eliminated, it does not make sense the majority of the people do not decide who is going to rule us. Democrats need to do whatever it takes to change this non-democratic system, even if they benefit a little bit.
Thank you for these tsunami truth reminders, Michael! Each one lifts my spirits and keeps me hopeful. You are such a gift to the U.S. and beyond!
Karma. They lose because their evil vibes go against all that is good.

I agree - I cannot watch Bill Maher any more
He has lost his way

I didn't really like 'Religulous.' His painting of religion with such a broad brush betrays his too simplistic understanding of the subject.

And worst of all, CIA hired SS and SD operative Klaus Barbie, The Butcher Of Lyon. #NeverForget ✌🏻
Thank you Michael! I just love the way you put things! More films please. For the masses. You are one great communicator.
A thousand thanks for these truths.
Thank you for the book references and this uplift.
Just to clarify what bellwether is:
A bellwether is a leader or an indicator of trends.[1]

SHEESH. Again with the truth. God help us to keep standing.
