I cannot wait to vote, October 29 is the first day of the early vote here and I just feel fired up. It is very difficult sometimes to convince people to go and get registered and vote. It is doable though. I tell people that once they start voting they will not stop. They will feel empowered and satisfied when they vote. It is our only way to let these people know that we are fed up with their dishonesty and their antics. Democracy requires that we vote otherwise it does not work. Stand up straight and vote, both are good for you. Tell everyone you know how important it is to vote and how fairly easy it is once you have the right information and vote.

“Scholars said the predominance of election deniers in the GOP bears alarming similarities to authoritarian movements in other countries, which often begin with efforts to delegitimize elections. Many of those promoting the stolen-election narrative, they said, know that it is false and are using it to gain power.”

“‘Election denialism is a form of corruption,’” said Ruth Ben-Ghiat, the author of ‘Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present’ and a historian at New York University.”

I voted blue for democracy 🌻

Lawrence Tribe explains in this interview at the end that we don't have to wait for Merrick Garland because any voter can take Trump to court for his insurrection and have him banned from ever holding office. Around 9 minutes, 25 seconds into the interview.

You're so right, Michael. We have the power to win elections. That's exactly why we can't rest easy! There are too many people who think all the others will vote so it won't matter if they don't!

I love the fact, Michael, that this is not simple boosterism. While it is a challenge to get out the vote, your characterization of the public at large is not wrong. Your composite photo of the GOP slate the other day was tragi-comic - only one black (man) and it was the infamous Herschel Walker! This bunch reminds me of Fitzgerald's closing line: "And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

I do hope you are correct. I always vote and I have since 1972 when I voted for George McGovern. As a young voter at the time, I sometimes split my votes between both Parties (there did seem to be some reasonable Republicans way back when). I don't remember the last time I voted for any Republican. It has been decades. I will vote on Election Day in Connecticut.

Can “us” knowing that “we” hold the “real” power change the actions of others? Is it that a quantum change in personal thought gives us the ability to supersede the powers that be whether they are on one side or another? Mindset can definitely effect the way we choose to handle our given set of constraints. If we use a bandaid when we need stitches will our wound heal? How long is forever?

Dunno. It feels like squeezing your fans to get our last drop of juice. Not a bad thing, but the only thing? Come on Mike, what would get seen by everyone? Aside from voting, what else could we do? You could open that conversation. One thing I'd do is to publicize Roger Waters. 800 people heard him call for unity in his talk for World Beyond War -- https://tinyurl.com/4wvtre7h -- and the tour he is on is beyond belief wonderful: https://consortiumnews.com/2022/10/04/waters-concert-the-world-as-it-is. What else?
