Jan. 6 was an act of treason, pure and simple. Let's just call it what it is!

I’m going to try and write this in the nicest way possible but as a charter member of Rumble please forgive me if I express how I really feel: I tried to make it through the whole but gave up at the :35 minute mark of what I can only call “masturbatory crap!” You and Dan know that everything you said everyone of us already knows and making sure we all vote? Pleez! Meanwhile at the risk of being a total fool let me go out on a limb and say that I’ll wager in the remaining :25 minutes of the show the “donkey” in the room was never discussed? Namely the abject, Weimaresque fecklessness of our Democrats and especially the one taking his afternoon nap in the White House! I’ll also mention that I haven’t yet watched AG Garland’s presser today but I dvrd it and will subject myself to it soonest, knowing full well it will be total horseshit! You know how this ends with Democracy intact? Prosecute Trump and his army of lackeys, cut off the head and the GOP flunkies will crumble and head for Argentina, or more likely Brazil, pun fully intended. When I hear an elected Democrat besides the Squad criticize Biden or Schumer, I’ll print out and eat this email. Please show me I’m wrong and I’ll gladly do that!

We, the American public, have been fed a steady stream of lies since JFK was murdered and we were all supposed to accept The Warren Commission's Report. I didn't buy it then, and I certainly don't now. As a child at home because schools were closed in mourning, I watched Oswald murdered in real time. That's when I fully realized the psychological damage wrought by trying to coerce the public to un-see what they just saw. We watched, stunned, the attack on our Democracy one year ago today. I'm still in shock, and no matter how much it is feathered over, it is still being treated just like The Warren Commission's Report. I cannot unsee the men swinging, hitting, yelling, or unhear the screams and sound of shattering glass. It is the most horrific scary movie I ever saw.

Justice? Hanging chads?

Fast forward to now. Unfortunately, my representative is Scott Perry, the local judge is referred to as "A loose cannon", the police force is filled with January 6, 2021, participants, the local parents want to burn books in the public-school libraries while refusing to get vaccinated or wear a mask. I am not from here, but even if I were somewhere else it wouldn't matter because violence is now so accepted people get away with it as passengers on airplanes. I actually grew up with deluded, hateful kids who are now staunch Republicans who would think nothing of shooting me, not because I'm a Democrat or anything else, but because I am educated, liberal, and a target. I am not one of 'them', and I never will be.

For decade after decade Democrats have failed, and all of my idealism died for the millionth time when the U.S. invaded Iraq. Where was the Democratic leadership to prevent the horrors that came afterwards? Why wasn't Bernie Sanders allowed to move forward, cowardly Democrats? Why is Liz from Wyoming cast as the only sane person we can depend upon to stand up for The Constitution? Why isn't DJT jailed for treason?

I would love to believe that what happened in Georgia can happen again, nation wide. Stacey Abrams is fantastic. Maybe someone can convince her to give classes on YouTube so the rest of us can learn from her. It isn't too late.

Yesterday I had a long phone conversation with a person who is also sick / heartbroken about our country and our planet. He said, "We don't have any music", and who he was referring to was Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Neil Young, etc. and so on. We all remember Crosby, Stills and Nash's song, 'Ohio', but right now I really don't think the corporate controlled media would market protest songs on Apple and Spotify.

We've been silenced, shut down, ignored, and shoved off to the side. When my vote doesn't count, I don't count. Claiming that the last election was a fraud, when it was not fraudulent, is enough for me to paint a million guitars with, 'This machine kills fascists'.

I don't see anyone coming forward to move us forward onto a playing field of righteous democracy. Do you?

OPEN LETTER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE,

DEAR SIRS

President Donald Trump, his family and corrupt members of his former Cabinet BELONG IN PRISON.

Trump openly admitted to journalist Bob Woodward that he deliberately downplayed COVID-19 in the early stages of the pandemic. The U.S. death count from COVID-19 is now over 717,000 people. Some health experts believe that if Trump had acted immediately, he could have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

The Trump Organization, the former president's family business, is facing criminal charges alleging significant tax fraud. Trump has directed some of his former aides to ignore subpoenas from the U.S. House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. And the Trump campaign still owes millions to some cities for expenses they incurred during rallies.

Most of all, Trump incited the violent insurrection in Washington, D.C., in January. People died that day, and serious damage was caused to the U.S. Capitol building.

How can YOU; The U.S. attorney general ignore all of this and not act immediately to place Trump, who I believe to be dangerous, in prison? Why does everyone else have to follow the law, but Trump is still allowed to be in public? Our laws must be followed by everyone, without exception! I believe that Trump should have a life sentence in prison and should never be allowed to run for any office again.

I fear that our democracy will be damaged forever if Trump does not pay for the many, many crimes I believe he has committed in our country..

Just watched Jan 6 Democracy Now segment Propublica on WHO was involved with January 6 coup, and it is jaw dropping to me what it takes to bring to justice those involved and those who financed this. Who for instance paid for the buses who brought the mob. no mention. Who finances McConnell endless legislation stall. THIS is why the people throw up their hands and say you STILL won't do anything to save this democracy. Hopium is in short supply especially with Covid and climate change which is beating down the door. We are begging you, Dan and others PLEASE do something because all the emails to Biden, petitions we sign continually fall into the dumpster. We are not quiet, we HAVE been voting and signing whatever it takes to get some one to do something. I've sent history documents, connect the dots stories, yet we still let a handful of people behind the curtain make all our decisions for us.

Democrats of the corporate variety which is most of them work for the same people as the Republicans. Corruption is the problem, corporate Democrats work for their donors as does the president. Biden's weakness is obvious, he is unwilling to fight for his avowed agenda which is overwhelmingly popular with the voters, lower drug prices, cancel student debt, universal health care (the pandemic has made it clear that our health care system sucks), child tax credits, universal pre k, raising the minimum wage along with many others. The parliamentarian stops raising the minimum wage, Democrats accept that without even a whimper, Harris has the power to override the parliamentarian. The only campaign promise Biden is keeping was made to his donors, nothing will fundamentally change. Democrats made many campaign promises , then they win and don't make an effort to pass them which is their pattern. Most of provisions in BBB have bipartisan support amongst the people, the people that vote. Give people a reason to vote in your favor by providing a reason to vote for you. Manchin gets the heat but there are many corporate Democrats that support him but have no need to show their hand. Democratic leadership is a collection of weak, corrupt and no vision for this country, content with the status quo, it is profitable for them. Pelosi believes she has the right to own individual stocks because it is a free market, she knows she has inside information, blatant corruption. Biden needs to get his pen out and start signing executive orders, legalize marijuana, cancel student debt. Suspect he is afraid Republicans would say bad things about him. I find it ironic that the spokesperson for the 1/6 committee is Cheney, a Republican. Democrats are averse to blowing their own horn, weakness, we are the nice ones. Let people know what you are doing for them, when Abbott asks for federal aid, point out how his decisions got Texas in this mess and then provide aid for the people of Texas. Attach strings with the aid, accountability for every penny spent. If the people give Democrats an overwhelming victory in 2022 would they deliver? Running Republican light is a losing strategy except for the consultant class. Politics and elections have become a lucrative industry for the consultant class. Personally, I am tired of hearing election losers tell us how to win. Democrats have 11 months to show us that they are willing to fight for their constituents, disappoint your donors. Trump won in 2016 with a fake populist campaign, people are tired of the status quo. Will end with this, Republicans project, they repeat "stop the steal" every chance they get while trying to steal the election. Democrats should be making a vocal case for how they will prevent the steal. Does Biden know he has the bully pulpit? Does he know how to use it?

We need to be honest about what the Democrats have done (or more appropriately *not* done!) to contribute to our recent and current dance with fascism. For example, the promise of 'hope and change' from Obama that brought neither, the multiple promises of candidate Biden that have zero hope of ever being passed because Biden is not fighting tooth and nail to get it done, and the exponential growth of inequality due to the economic policies of both political parties. Let's get 100% real shall we? You can't solve a problem if you aren't willing to call it out honestly.

How nice that Rep. Dan Kildee mentions the corrupting influence of money in politics and refers to H.R.1 -- when he, himself takes corporate money. (https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/dan-kildee/contributors?cid=N00033395&cycle=2020&type=I - check '22 and previous years.)

Did Kildee endorse or support Bernie Sanders when Bernie ran for President? Did he make a peep when the DNC Coup blocked Bernie's winning streak in the 2020 Democratic primary?

No. He didn't. And yet now he exhorts voters to be INVOLVED, in order to save democracy.

That's really rich.

Big Money killed democracy a long time ago, thanks to the Democratic Party as well as the GOP.

Let's all aspire to be as redundant as possible as American activists, participating in democracy with such fervor that the violent cowards have no other option but to retreat. Thank you, Michael. Thank you, Dan. You take care of us, balancing hope with realism. Please take care of yourselves as well. We need you. You have value and worth. Your mental health is important.

Tomorrow marks one year since the January 6 insurrection.

On that day, Donald Trump and some elected Republicans incited a violent and deadly attack against all Americans – against our country, our democracy, and our freedom as voters to choose the leaders that represent us so that we have a government of, by, and for the people.

FailedCoup 🥷🏻 May the guilty pay!

MM-

Like to get your views on Merrick Garland's address to the nation yesterday regarding what DOJ is doing as per the insurrection or not doing. Like Rachel Maddow, I came away from his talk not knowing. He made encouraging comments, but never explicated how far and how far up he was going to take this crucial matter.

Thank you greatly, Michael, for taking a real, great care of this country, the way you are doing it. Currently, 19 red states (where Republicans control both the legislature and the governorship) have passed laws making voting more difficult. In other key states, laws have been or are being passed that many fear would allow legislatures to disregard the results of an election. All this increases the possibility of a constitutional crisis that would end up in front of the heavily politicized Supreme Court. The other major issue in 2022 will be the Republican primaries. Donald Trump has signaled his intent to primary any Republicans who dared to criticize him. This includes those who voted for his impeachment or conviction, including Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski and Wyoming’s Liz Cheney. The latter is also participating in the congressional committee investigating the January 6 uprising. The congressional investigation should not have much of an impact: 77% of Republicans do not believe it will be fair and reasonable, and fewer and fewer think it is important for law enforcement to prosecute the rioters. Many scholars and journalists have sounded the alarm about the threats to American democracy, including the threat of a simmering coup d’état, further political violence, and even civil war.

But there are other risks, including that of low electoral turn-out, which could lead to a less spectacular but more likely slow death of democratic institutions amid the generalized indifference of a population more concerned with immediate cultural, identity or economic issues than the fate of democracy. What worries and frightens me most of all, is that the main culprit of the 01/06/21 events, No. 45, will never stand trial, never answer for his lies, for what he did to this country. Moreover, he is dreaming of his 2024 revenge and has great chances of realizing such revenge.

This is such a packed issue. My question is, how do we get people to turn out to vote when (a) the Democrats (Biden) are not delivering on their promises by refusing to exercise the nuclear (filibuster) option, and (b) everyone in the country is aware that we have been lied to again and again and again by our government and elected officials? This is not just a problem of misinformation in social media that's discouraging people. It's a real, bedrock problem in our institutions. Pick any issue - JFK, weapons of mass destruction, 9/11, climate change, UFOs, you name it. Every thinking person realizes that most of what we are told publicly is lies. Can you comment on this?

I think the media response to Jan 6th was to minimize and gloss over the war zone imminent danger public officials felt hiding under desks during the event. That is bad and dangerous by itself. I am also concerned about the Tr=ed Cruz Tucker carlson easy banter of the term terrorist. Which lib dems seem to embrace with reckless abandon, Don't they remember 9/11 and what a shit show of civil liberties loss the dept of homeland securities is. Wake up America before we all loose what freedom we have left. that said, I am totally against the actions taken on Jan 6th.
