Every little bit of sanity and compassion that we can claw back from the precipice is worthwhile. Fingers crossed and prayers for Zohran tomorrow. As an ex-New Yorker who was forced to leave in 1990, I hope for a bright new day in the city that never sleeps.

Go to my Substack for a free digital copy of my book: The Illusion of Justice. It contains incontrovertible proof that the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties have been conspiring together to pack the courts with corrupt judges who have nothing but contempt for the rule of law. If this is not enough of a reason to throw these bastards out of office, what the hell would be? Besides, whether you realize it or not, this is how they have been getting away with everything you have ever protested.

I love how Lander and Mamdani endorsed each other! That is true commeraderie. Good luck to them both. I believe NYC has ranked choice voting. I'm jealous! But this is good for democracy.

Actually, ranked choice voting can be problematic. That’s how we ended up with Sheng Tao in Oakland.

Oops.

On the other hand, that's how Portland got its most progressive city council in its history.

I have BIG respect and LOVE for you Michael Moore. I have been a fan for a long time.

Which is why, as a New Yorker, I feel I must register my disappointment with this 'endorsement'.

I look forward to Mamdani's bright future in NYC politics (and maybe beyond NYC). But his resume is a bit thin to justify taking on management of a huge and complex city with a budget of over $100 billion, about 300,000 municipal employees, and about 8 million residents. Mamdani has just a few years' experience as a state legislator (in Albany of all places!).

With our ranked choice voting system, you had the opportunity to give a nod to more than one candidate, encouraging voters to include more than just Mamdani in their rankings. There are a couple other new promising progressive-minded candidates. And there is one progressive candidate, Brad Lander, who has a 20+year track record of accomplishments AND a viable chance to beat Cuomo.

Next time, please do more homework before venturing out with an endorsement for a local candidate.

As a NYC retiree from the City University, I urge people to vote for Brad Lander and not vote for Mamdani or Adrienne Adams. Neither have agreed to support NYC retirees and not to force us onto a Medicare Advantage Plan. Both are endorsed by DC 37 whose leader Henry Garrido who was one of the leaders, along with the UFT's Michael Mulgrew, who devised this horrible plan.

Finally, a mayoral candidate who doesn’t treat “tax the rich” like a radical fever dream but as basic civic hygiene. Zohran gives off serious “let’s unrig this system already” energy—and it’s long overdue.

As for Cuomo... the man ghosted accountability, then reappeared with a campaign banner like we wouldn’t notice. No thanks.

Virgin Monk Boy says: “When the exiled oligarch returns in disguise, don’t hand him a crown—hand him a mirror.”

Let the working class run this damn city for once.

Amen to voting for Zohran. I already did. Cuomo would be a disaster.

Vote for Zohran to let the world know we are not all fascists, or mega racists republicans. We love our democracy and no one can dare to deprive of us of that including musk, fox and deep pockets. Let us drive these foot soldiers of the trojan horse out, which has spread muck in our institutions of learning and legislations. What we are seeing is the conspiracy and scheming by one party underway for decades. Those who are on the sidelines fashioning as liberals are also foot soldiers of the right wing cabal. To dig deeper read, "Trojan Horse - Democracy Hijacked", to be out next month.

Como is the predicted winner

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/polls/nyc-mayoral-primary-election-polls-2025.html

It is hard to hold onto hope for our species, We will see Polls have certainly been wrong before,

DNC (Democratic National Committee) is not backing Andrew Cuomo for mayor of New York. Instead, it is reported that Representative James Clyburn has endorsed Cuomo, which may help him broaden his appeal to Black voters. Cuomo is centering his campaign on the idea that he has the experience to fight Trump in the upcoming Democratic primary.

So disappointed in James Clyburn. Maybe after 17 terms he is just an old school politician too embedded in preserving his job imstead of wjat is best for the people.

I dreamt that in response to President Trump’s call for peace in the middle-east people all over the globe took him seriously and came out to demonstrate for peace. There was not a corner of the planet, not represented. A clergy person speaking to the president said "you know for there to be peace, there must be love, you can have no enemies." And the president, most amazed by these words, said ”Wow! Wow! I never thought of that!

Gentle Heart

By Joshua Hyslop (Ash and Stone)

https://youtu.be/cTUAxPDVxn8?si=v4x2dnB-6LjDuMwV

Oh, gentle heart

Oh, simple soul

You have come so far

On your own

Do not turn back

Do not lose hope

Who can say how far is left to go?

And all the nights

You've walked alone

You've followed lights

To guide you home

Should the dawn refuse to rise

Should the darkness close outside

Oh, may you find your heart

Next to mine

For we found hope

In a hopeless time

Oh, gentle heart

Oh, simple soul

There is still so much

I have to know

So, plant your seeds

And watch them grow

Keep on moving on

Down the road

Through the night

The wind shall blow

And all the lights

Are burning low

Should the dawn refuse to rise

Should the darkness close outside

Oh, may you find your heart

Next to mine

For we found hope

In a hopeless time

And all the nights

You've walked alone

You've followed lights

To guide you home

Should the dawn refuse to rise

Should the darkness close outside

May you still find your heart

Next to mine

For we found hope

In a hopeless time

Oh, we found hope

In a hopeless time

Oh, we found hope

In a hopeless time

need not be the question to ask today or any time soon. It’s more about the questions, “What can we do?” How can we now be?” For me, It doesn’t matter anymore that the human race survives. I am sure that intelligent life will evolve into its very best, perhaps many millions of years from now. Perhaps our purpose is to create viable interface for the octopus to take the next lap of sentient relay. Perhaps deep in the sea will be the next civilization where heavenly music travels for hundreds of miles wide. For me, learning satyagraha is the key for living out my remaining time on the planet … that time between 4,000 weeks and 30,000 days. Dear future lives, I’m so sorry I had to complicitly borrow so much sentient misery to lead the best life I’ve known how. I know I’ve received so much more than most. Had I grown wiser sooner I will share and relinquish the rest I have to lead others from suffering. Thanks Thom Whitney for teaching me the four divine elements of Hawaiian Farewell: “Thank you for sharing with me … I forgive you for all the hurt you have caused others … Please forgive me for the many times I’ve mindlessly missed the mark … DF2R: Don’t Forget 2 Remember how much I love you.”Amen.

Yes! We need articulate, young, unafraid leaders right now--especially in NY. These are scary times, but we cannot be diverted from holding Trump et al to account for their killer budget and immigration human rights abuses. Iran is important but will not impact Americans on home soil in the near future. Here is my full take: https://shalyn8.substack.com/p/why-americans-dont-need-to-panic
