Dear Disgraced Indicted-Felon Man-Baby Ex-President:
This week you will be arrested, fingerprinted and arraigned for a record fourth time in just four months for serious crimes committed in four separate states, with all four arrests being for four very different and distinct crimes.
That’s the part that caught my eye — your serial crime spree included no repetition of the same crime. It was a new crime each time, across four state lines. It’s not like you robbed four banks in four states or shot four people dead in the middle of four different 5th Avenues (there are 5th Avenues also in Seattle, San Diego, Naples, FL and Anchorage, Alaska).
One crime involved hush money. Another, the theft of top secret national security documents. This week’s indictment will be for your brazen attempt to stuff the ballot box in Fulton County, GA, with 11,780 fake votes for yourself (one more than you actually needed!).
And, of course, the big one from last week: your violent failed attempt to stage a coup that cost 9 people their lives (5 of them cops, but what do you care, you criminal sack of shit).
I’ve never seen anything like this, not even in a mob movie. The diversity of your crimes, how you never repeat yourself — how does one become a recidivist before they’ve actually served a single prison term? Breathtaking. Yes, most of your crimes have the same motive — to enrich yourself and to rule over us. But, still — breathtaking.
Yet, it got me thinking — you are so lucky to be an American! Acclaimed Yale history professor (and your co-star in Fahrenheit 11/9), Timothy Snyder, put it so chillingly well this past Thursday as you were being fingerprinted in the D.C. Federal Court. Referring to your arrogant pouting that your “rights” have been violated, that you are being “persecuted,” that you are a “victim” of a system stacked against you, arrested by an “illegitimate president” whom you “defeated,” Professor Snyder had this to say:
“That Trump will be tried for his coup attempt is not a violation of his rights. It is a fulfillment of his rights. It is the grace of the American republic. In other systems, when your coup attempt fails, what follows is not a trial.”
Yes, Mr. Ex-President, in other countries, many of whom you admire, instead of an indictment and a fair trial, you’d be handed a blindfold, a piece of rope and a stake they’d tie you to. The (ironic) hood over your head, optional.
Then someone would shout “FIRE!!” (no, not “you’re fired!” — “FIRE!!”), and the sound of the barrage from a dozen rifles would end your treason. Thank God that will not happen. All violence is abhorrent even against those who inflict it on others. You, sir, live in the United States of America and we do not execute white billionaires. At least give us that.
I want you to live. I want our younger generation to see you go through all four trials, to learn just how close we came to losing it all, a 247-year experiment in Democracy that meant well, but was never fully finished.
It’s enough for me for now that you will never be president again, that you will indeed serve prison time (if you had committed just one crime, because *remarkably* you’d be deemed a “first-time offender,” that would’ve been probation. But four separate felonies? Sorry, Don Donald, you’re going up the river.)
In the meantime, quit your whining about being a victim. The victims were the thousands of Black families you and your racist father refused to rent apartments to in Queens and Brooklyn for decades. You’re not the victim — you’re the perp. And — you’re an American! That alone spares you from the hangman’s noose. As it should. Here’s to a speedy trial by a jury of your peers in four amazing American cities where the majority of the population happens not to be white.

** In order to have a troll-free, hate-free comments section — and because if there’s one thing I know about my crazy haters, they would rather spend an eternity in hell with Marjorie Taylor Greene than send me $5 if forced to become a paid subscriber — my Comments section here on my Substack is limited to paid subscribers. But, not to worry — anyone can send me their comments, opinions and thoughts by writing to me at mike@michaelmoore.com. I read every one of them, though obviously I can’t respond to all. And every few weeks or so I share them publicly here on Substack and on my podcast so that your voice is heard by the multitudes in this wonderful community of readers and listeners. The solution here is not optimal but it has worked and my Comments section has become a great meeting place for people wanting to discuss the ideas and issues I raise here. There is debate and disagreement, but it is refreshing to have it done with respect and civility, unfettered by the stench of bigotry and Q-anon insanity.
Michael, This is the best thing you have ever written. And you have written some amazing and wonderful pieces. This, however, is of the magnitude that it should be read at 4th of July celebrations, on Flag Day, of course on January 6th, and should be placed on the cork boards of every history teacher's and every law professor's classroom. There are many more places it should be read and displayed, but others will come up with those ideas. Right now, I am just going to close and reflect, to paraphrase Elton John, on how fortunate I am that you are in my world.
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. I would like to see this piece appear in national newspapers for all to read. Especially publications read by Trump followers
