It was an amazing, excellent speech. Such a contrast to the nonsense spewed by the Republicans. Jeffries will be a great leader in the House; perhaps either President or Vice President one day.

I needed this speech. A speech that inspired me to look up, realign and connect with humanity. Hakeem Jeffries, at that late hour after days of mind numbing (and soul crushing) fighting showed a purity of purpose and inspired energy that gave me hope. SPECTACULAR.

It wasn’t just the words and phrases and tenor of the speech that were superlative, brilliant, exquisite. It was his delivery, his performance, his connection with his audiences. It was so seamless, so conversationally yet dramatically expressive that I kept thinking he must have memorized it. Or was it completely extemporaneous? Whatever. It was truly a speech that earned a prominent spot in oratorical history.

Hakeem Jeffries ... OMG! What an outstanding speech. Fills us all with hope. such a stark difference to the republican horde. I join him as well, in acknowledging Nancy Pelosi for her skill and talent managing a diverse Democratic party for these last 20 years navigating the rocky shoals during republican presidencies and helping to get everyone through the Pandemic and financials crisis. Looking forward to seeing Hakim step into those shoes. mary

Bless you, Michael Moore. Bless you. To quote my dear long dead famous good father, an orthodox Jew at birth confirmed when requested or required by Brooklyn Hassidim, as he rose to lead The New York Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, “Your voice in God’s Ear.”

Leader Jeffries spoke without hesitation and without notes. Never looking down... Hakim Jeffries knows his subject and he knows himself. And he knows Us, to quote Speaker Nancy’s Majority Whip, the great James Clyburn.

I heard Jeffries with tears of joy, hoping. The GOP was deaf.

Happy New Year, and thank goodness you are here. Keep speaking, keep going..

The man has a depth that will reveal itself. I now understand why he was chosen by his peers to lead.

What an amazing minority leader Jeffries will be.

However, we all

Know the next two years, and the insurrectionist republicans in power means chaos—a future shit show of investigations.

Ironically, it’s just those republicans in power who should be investigated for their attempts to overthrow our government by the people.

Sad & pathetic who is leading the “house.”

I stayed up to watch the final vote (easier to do on the west coast). I am glad I stuck around to see what would happen next.

I was cheering Hakeem Jeffries throughout his entire speech. I LOVED it. I tried to listen to McCarthy but had to turn it off after a few minutes. Couldn't stomach it. Slimy, unctuous, condescending. Ugh.

I, too, thought of Barack Obama. As Congressman Jeffries was speaking, I felt proud to be a Democrat at this time. Southern Democrat doesn't mean what it used to, filled with hate and KKK members. Now that party is the Republican party that has the small hate-filled people who can't even get along with each other.

At truly inspirational speech, so needed and hopefully heeded by those who would demean our fragile democracy. Reminded me of the eloquence of Barak Obama, and gave me hope that he will continue to be a strong and influential figure in Washington.

This is a proud moment for us, we who recognize what it means to be an American - different yet alike, we are inextricably intertwined. Thus, strong and unwavering.

Tis a pity that so many American voters allow idiots like Gaetz, Greene and George Santos to get to sit in the same room that so many Great Americans have blessed with their wisdom over the decades. But Democracy does allow idiots at the table along with the wise, because we all deserve to be heard. Should we allow idiots to make decisions for us? Well, yah, if we keep electing them. Duhhhh. Never vote for a Republican.

Jeffries spoke like a true leader. After he passed the gavel to McCarthy (my California district congressman) I went to bed.
