I like what Trevor Noah said on his farewell show... to talk issues, not party. I live in rural Colorado and was the top canvasser for the Dems... especially to defeat Lauren BOEBERT. I talked to so many people who disliked her but would finally admit that they always voted Republican and always would. THAT is the error of talking blue vs red instead of ISSUES.
I plan to start canvassing in January testing that philosophy. ( I guess you heard that BOEBERT won re-election by only 551 votes instead of 20,000 votes 2 years before).

We can win.. we need to start with school boards. Politics is local. We need to focus on the youth- energize how important their vote-is - for it is their future! Happy to be on one of the blue paying democrats in traverse that turned blue in 2022!
I'm from Denver, CO and it appears that we are Dem from Gov. to State Senate and Rep, and I agree with you on the issues. One of them is No Fault Auto Insurance, which is Health Care for drivers. Regular Health Insurance is not adequate. We were denied No Fault Insurance by a Republican Gov. in the 1990s. Many Health Care professionals were put out of business, and it had a negative affect on the economy. I will be writing to all of the State Dem and Rep (maybe not Rep) to try to get this law changed. I have been unlucky as far as getting in too many auto accidents that were not my fault. State Farm recently paid a neurologist $42,000 and more to go after me, scaring any attorney who would have worked with me. It is on record that State Farm pays "expert witnesses" over one million dollars in one year. Auto Insurance is a scam creating Billion dollar companies.......Dems often have the power and influence, but then don't act on it......
That is completely nuts, Paul. MA had No Fault Ins since before i got my license in 1969. Mass drivers are notoriously crazy and wild drivers. Auto, home, health ins seems to be a huge scam industry. What you've described sounds miles beyond insane. Corporatocracy is waaaay out of control in this country. For people who check out and say they don't get involved in politics... here's an incredible example of how we need to know we better take our lives and our country back. Keep us updated, please, Paul? Kudos to you!
Even minor auto accidents can have serious health consequences. I just read that Steve Allen died way too young when he was in a minor auto accident that caused bleeding in the chest area that he was not aware of. And besides that, the number of deaths has increased to approximately 50,000. The actual answer may be more mass transit, and of course electric vehicles.........Thank you for your support.
I am registered as unaffiliated. Speaking to a Democrat, I objected to the slogan “vote blue.” (I do support democrat candidates by contributing and when voting.). The democrat I was speaking to refused to see it as someone outside the party might. She defended it as if it were her own child. Sometimes democrats are their own worst enemies. It should not be a club. It should not be us against them. The platform should be about the people who they are asking to see vote for their candidates. What they promise to do for them if elected.
Yes!!!! Thank you!! Gotta agree that sometimes Dems are their own worst enemies, just as you've explained, Betty. Thank you for saying it.
Uncementing party 'loyalty' (on both sides of aisle) is much needed part of our recognizing that our issues are not so much Right & Left as Up & Down. Bernie's 1% vs. 99%.
In theory, I also find 'vote blue, no matter who' slogans offensive. In practice, voting blue is mostly what i do. For me, Dems (esp establishment Dems) are often way too stuck in their ways and conservatively terrified of improvements if they require 'change.'
Just the other night, I had looked up Beto O'Rourke, wanting to know how I could work with him to try turning Texas blue. I visited his old campaign website and clicked on one of his post-election tweets. Taken directly to Beto's Twitter page, I found his very positive, very productive posts. Even after a devastating loss, Beto is still standing and still fighting for us. He's amazing. I don't know how he manages to remain positive even after everything that has happened, but he does. Of course, some of the responses to his posts were as nasty as you'd expect from hard-right, red-state Republican voters. I hid some of these people, not wanting to deal with them.
But then, I decided that maybe they should hear from me. They should hear that not everyone shares their thoroughly negative, nasty ideologies. So I responded to a couple of these fellow Texas voters and told them this:
"There are more people who want no more gun deaths, no more corruption, no more cruelty, no more hatred, no more misogyny, no more starvation, and no more injustice. There are a lot more of us than there are of you. We will prevail."
So far, I have not gotten one response from either of the people I sent this comment to. But I said what I and many more know to be true. I will not stay silent. WE will not stay silent--not in Texas, not in Florida, not in Tennessee. Not ANYWHERE.
Thank you, Veronica!!! Isn't it absolutely stunningly and dishearteningly bizarre how out of touch our Texas politics are?? Mind-boggle.
I wrote Mike a long, tearful letter after Beto emailed deep thanks and appreciation to all of us, his loyal supporters around mid-November.
And... Mike actually wrote me a quick response back!!!!!!!! Yeah!! I was SHOCKED!!! And delighted to share it with many FB folks in our Mothers Against Greg A-butt group, Beto's group, and other such FB groups.
Mike thanked me for the letter and said he 'accepted my challenge to find a way to change things.' Didn't believe i'd issued a challenge to him. Just asked for maybe some different ideas since he's great at new, more productive and constructive approaches. What could he maybe suggest to us here in a state where obviously NO Dem was gonna win statewide in our 2022 election? We had the BEST candidate for governor - and U.S. Senate - in Beto. Quality was NOT the issue here. So unless Superman shows up to run...
I do believe that (since Mike clearly heard from many of us Blue Dots in very Red states)... THIS is how he's addressing our needs for more ideas and encouragement and empowerment. So... we're listening up and taking it all in!!!!!!!!
Thanks for speaking up to our fellow Texas voters to remind them that we outnumber them and our common humanity will prevail!! :D
Right on Michael! Before we move on, however, there is a back story on January 6th report we must insist on being told. For 187 minutes the juggernaut of US security system was ordered to stand down while the insurrectionist pillaged the greatest temple of democracy, in history. Who was responsible? What processes were used to block the normal homeland security system from functioning. Where was JCS and who was calling the shots at Pentagon? Why was national guard absent? This was no ordinary oversight. Had the trump forces succeeded in weaponizing the insurrectionists, they would have massacred most of the political leaders within a flash, judging from the carnage caused by their foot soldiers in mass shootings in schools and churches. Now is the time for the truth to come out, if we love our democracy.
The blindingly gigantic white elephant in the J6 probe. All extremely relevant questions to be asked and answered ... yes, if we love our democracy... such as it sort of still exists.
I love that word. It conjures the image of headless chickens running about.
The discombobulated Repubs are desperately trying to become relevant, ignoring the most obvious strategy: play by the rules and work collaboratively with the Dems to create solutions that benefit everyone.
Once in a lifetime, unless you are Shirley MacLaine!
The Republican Party is in disarray, which will continue with the legal battles coming. HUGE OPPORTUNITIES ARE BEFORE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. PICK CANDIDATES AFTER MICHAEL’S SERIES.
I just connected you with that “kid” I read about a long time ago, who ran for school board and won! OMG. what a gift you are. Thank you! You inspire me, again and again.
I live in a super red county, but I've managed to register 19 new independent/progressive minded young voters for the last election, and won't stop there. It is possible to make the change when you focus on the issues and how it affects them.
Barb, greetings from Maryland! My situation is a little different than most. I am a nurse at an abortion clinic. As you can imagine, the subject of protecting women's rights is a big topic of conversation. I registered as a voter registration volunteer in my county of residence, where I also work, and I try to register anyone who is not registered who resides in MD. Many already are, and those who are not are almost always willing to talk about it. I don't push the issue on anyone who doesn't want to talk about politics. Many of our patients reside where abortion is now prohibited or drastically curtailed. I ask how they feel about that. I don't ask about red, blue or party of any kind. I get to meet some amazing women from many walks of life... vibrant, intelligent women. And most of the time, when the issues were addressed, the conversation became broader, and many who were unregistered left with an application, specific locations to drop off the card or vote, or sometimes a stamp if needed. 19....It FEELS fantastic! Think of how many I can speak to in the next two years.

This was supposed to be in response to someone else’s comment. I get easily lost in this kind of format.
Just the other night, I had looked up Beto O'Rourke, wanting to know how I could work with him to try turning Texas blue. I had to do it, Suz-an. Somebody had to say something. And thank you for writing Michael! He's giving us hope.

I love that word. It conjures the image of headless chickens running about.

Let's do this!
I drank Trump kool aid once. It gave me the trots.
hahaha!!! no shiz
I love this mini pod series already! You’re the best, Mike🖤
How did Sarah Huckabee get elected? She got elected because most of the Republicans' who outnumber democrats, feel obligated to vote party instead of
Issues.
R stands for Robots?? :D
Right again, Michael! I believe we can and will do it.
Inspiring. Thanks Michael.
Merry Christmas, Michael.
