Michael,

Thank you and your staff so very, very much for this last episode. When it got to the point of the police starting to push and harass the students, and listening to their chants and police brutality my heart could not stand it and tears came to my eyes and my chest became tight with great anguish. Anguish for the students being treated so harshly, for the people of Palestine, for the citizens of the world who are losing to the inhumanity of large corporations. So much, so much. Your podcast and films have given me sustenance. I remember seeing you in black and white in your early days with Roger and Me and in your short TV series which was cancelled.

I am 75 and remember my days in the peace movement with the San Jose Peace Center. All the protests we conducted on campus and in the streets locally and in San Francisco and Oakland due to the immorality of the Vietnam War and the same for all the wars since up to and including Ukraine and Palestine.

I voted uncommitted in the Democratic Party instead of Biden and was so happy to find you and others in Michigan, etc. who supported that. So much Michael, so over whelming with what the world faces.

Thank you for all you do,

Most Sincerely, Ahimsa

Ed Kaler

OK. Michael, Biden is doing exactly what you want. He is pushing for a ceasefire threatening to cut off aid. Netanyahu seems to be feeling the pressure. Time will tell. Biden's numbers are tanking for many reasons, but the threat of losing the youth vote is one of them. So now, instead of waiting to see if Biden is able to pull of a peace deal in Gaza having his people working night and day to craft an end to the fighting, return of the hostages, and a plan by Israel and the Palestinians with the support of nation states like Saudi Arabia and Egypt to find a lasting solution, you are now making a big deal about the few campuses where police have, at the behest of Republican influencers, forced the administrations of several high-profile colleges to use the police to force the demonstrators out. Most campuses are handling the situation well. But the media needs to have a story to tell and they have it on several campuses. I just do not understand why you have taken up this cause and have ignored the thousands of other situations around the world that are much worse and have been going on for much longer. You say the you not anti-semitic or anti-Israel, but one wonders. Give peace a f**king chance! Let Biden do what we elected him to do and stop whining. We know nothing of the groups that are behnd the protests because the media does not do its work. And why do the protestors all wear masks? When we demostrated against the Vietnam War, we felt no need to wear masks. What are they afraid of? Does it occur to you that wearing masks allows outsiders to come in? It is a show of cowardice on the parts of the protestors. It will be interesting to see what happens when the semester is over. But you are getting your wish. Sinking the possibility of second Biden term. I do not know what you are thinking, but I am beginning to wonder about you and your sanctimonious crusade. Biden is not evil. The wars in the Middle East are complex and have been going on for milleniums. There are no simple solutions. There is diplomacy. How about if you try one simple thing, let diplomacy do its job. It is difficult and it is frustrating. But if Trump is re-elected all your handwringing will have gone for naught and we will all be in deep doo-doo. The Palestinians in Gaza will have no one to support them as Trump will give Netanyahu, his war cabinet, and the ultra right in Israel, exactly what they want -- carte blanche do exactly what they want.

I also love all the well-intentioned suggestions how to find peace in the region. The good news is that States like Saudi Arabia are actually working with the Israelis to find a way to normalize relations with Israel. Why? It is obvious, the Saudia and other States in the region who are Sunni hate the Shites (Iran) more than they hate the Israelis and do not want to let Iran control the region. But keep it up Michael and you will get your wish, a Trump Presidency and an end to diplomacy in the region. Our leadership in the free world is in the balance as there seems to be a very bad turn toward authoritarianism in the world and the bad people seem to be winning. I hope things turn around before November but it looks more and more that Biden will not win and your mantra that "there is more of us than there are of them" just will not work this time around. There are too many of "us" who are conflicted to carry the day in November. But keep it up Michael, you are playing in to the hands of groups like Hamas who know that as long as we in America are divided that evil will win.

Normally I read all the comments because it is often more informative to hear other views than listening to the media, who just focus on surface issues and never really get deep into things (except for Rachel Maddow -- who is so thorough that by the time she is through I have no faith in anything -- god bless her -- I can no longer watch her show -- it is too depressing). But I have to cease and desist because I am in information overload. Too many issues, many of which seem to be going south. I only hope that those here, as subscribers, and generally men and women of goodwill, will take a measured approach to this crusade of Michael's. Netanyahu and Hamas are hard nuts to crack for many reasons. If Biden and his people cannot do it, then who will? Certainly not Trump, certainly not the Republicans.

Richard - Biden’s numbers are absolutely NOT tanking. As a matter of fact, they are rising. Stop listening to the media and subscribe to Simon Rosenberg’s Hopium Chronicles- he’s data driven and talks about what’s really going on….not the BS or limited narrative the media is parroting. Case in point: on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Biden gave a moving speech. I heard almost nothing about it in the mainstream media- not even MSNBC. It was Trump & Stormy Daniels all day long. The media cannot be trusted to tell the electorate what’s really going on. As an aside, I totally disagree with what Michael Moore is doing here and I do not see eye to eye with his “observations” or his tactics. He seems hell bent on trying to get Trump re-elected. What a shame to see someone you once respected fall so far.

I have heard no one making a plan to avoid genocide. That is what is lacking.

These two religious groups need to be separated by at least 5 miles or so.

If any human has no solution then they have no right to criticize. For example, the GOP have no solutions and all they do is criticize, lie and incite violence. We pay our government money to find solutions, our own right wingers are too brain-dead to even want to fix America for the average American citizen not just the ultra wealthy. The left needs to put forth a plan that is rational, cuz the right wingers are not capable of it. Our politicians impersonate leaders.

Does Joe Biden really have a chance to win the 2024 election??????? From Reuters 12/3/2023...... "Muslim American leaders from six battleground states on Saturday vowed to mobilize their communities against President Joe Biden's reelection over his support of Israel's war in Gaza, but they have yet to settle on an alternative 2024 candidate.

The states are among a handful that allowed Biden to win the 2020 election. Opposition from their sizable Muslim and Arab American communities could complicate the president's path to Electoral College ....The so-called #AbandonBiden campaign began when Minnesota Muslim Americans demanded Biden call for a ceasefire by Oct. 31, and has spread to Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Florida. It remains to be seen whether Muslim voters would turn against Biden en masse, but small shifts in support could make a difference in states Biden won by narrow margins in 2020.

A recent poll showed Biden's support among Arab Americans has plunged from a comfortable majority in 2020 to 17%......That could be decisive in a state like Michigan where Biden won by 2.8 percentage points and Arab Americans account for 5 percent of the vote, according to the Arab American Institute.

There are around 25,000 Muslim voters in Wisconsin, a state where Biden won by about 20,000 votes, said Tarek Amin, a doctor representing the state's Muslim community." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/muslim-americans-face-abandon-biden-dilemma-then-who-2023-12-02/"

also consider the young voters and many older voters across the US who are NOT in support of Biden's stance (providing $$$ and weapons to Israel) Biden is firmly in the pocket of Israel...as are many in the US Congress...$$$...(AIPAC)......It is clear by Biden's actions that he is going to continue to support Israel ,who will, with American $$$$ and weapons, kill Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.....it is the electoral college that determines who wins...not the popular vote............

Who will you vote for????

.

So one cannot claim that the Gazan's are a victim of a small splinter 'Terrorist" group when ("They" ) - threw out their secular government in favor of a theocratic extreme HAMAS government - to a corpuscular level. It helps alot to understand that he also has limited leverage if he wants to keep his job and stay out of prison. There are so many issues that cannot be ignored that I generally run out of time trying to keep up with current events and my own life. Life as we know it is in peril on so many fronts. An email from the NY Times (i am a subscriber) caught my attention just now. It shows that as much as Michael wants a quick end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the reasons that is difficult to achieve are the conflicting aims of many of the interrested parties. It is a near imposssible tightrope for Biden to walk and Trump is already taking advantage. Here are the bullet items (I could add several more bullet points about student protests and so on). Consider what you would do if you were President to deal with these conflicting agendas.

If Michael wants to run for President, he should, so he can solve all the complex problems in one quick shot:

1. Cease-fire negotiations hit a snag yesterday as participants grew angry over Israel’s incursion in Rafah. The C.I.A. director left Cairo, where the talks were taking place, as did delegations from Israel and Hamas.

2. Israel and Hamas seem to be engaged in “dead-cat diplomacy,” Peter Baker writes — with each seeking to ensure the other gets blamed if they fail to reach a deal.

3. Even if the U.S. halts weapon shipments to Israel, as Biden has threatened, Israeli officials say they have enough munitions to fight in Rafah.

4. The World Health Organization warned that hospitals in southern Gaza had only days’ worth of fuel left.

5. Donald Trump accused Biden of abandoning Israel, saying “any Jewish person” who voted for Biden “should be ashamed.”

6. American Muslim and Arab leaders say their communications with the White House have largely broken down. That could pose a problem for Biden’s re-election.

Just an additional note from me. I remember the then mayor of NY John Lindsay, fresh from a vacation with his family came back to the City Hall to find the garbage workers on strike in one room and the construction workers in another room with the participants screaming at one another with no hope of reconciliation. The garbage was piling up in the streets and all construction work was put on hold. He said, "I just sat down on a bench between the two rooms and said to myself, if there is anyone who thinks he can do this job, I would like to see them try" (or something like that).

So, Michael, who says he reads every comment, it has been said that even if the US stops supplying the materials to bomb Rafah, the Israelis say they have enough to continue their offensive in Rafah. So what next, Michael.

Note that I still subscribe to your newsletter because I believe your heart is in the right place. I just think that you might not being looking enough at the big picture and not having enough faith that Biden will do the right thing. We already know that the other guy will not. We will need you to rally the troops in the months leading up to November assuring us that Biden will win because there are more of us than of them. There is some good news on that front as Biden seems to be closing the gap with Trump (2% different on 1000 calls to cell phones of registered voters) and with the projected voting with RFK added to the mix, the guy with the worm in his brain, giving a two point lead to Biden. Go RFK! Trump was forced to do a video begging potential voters not to abandon him and vote for RFK.

Michael,

As a fellow boomer who supports the student protests, I think your recent podcasts on the protesters and the mischaracterization of them and ridiculous repression is so moving and you need to turn make a film about all of this! You can put this film into the historical context of the way protesters have been defamed and misrepresented throughout American history, but later we come to see they were right, be it the antiwar protesters in the Vietnam Era, Civil Rights protesters, etc.

Apparently polls showed that the majority of Americans thought we were right to send in the National Guard the day after Kent State, and after MLK gave his anti-Vietnam War speech at Riverside Church, he was lambasted for getting out of his "lane."

In 1936, students at Harvard protested against the university's ties to Nazis, and they were lambasted as "Communists," etc. That is like now, when the students protesting against our military and financial support of Israel's mass slaughter in Gaza are misrepresented as anti-Semitic, etc.

We know you can make a great movie! This is the movie you need to make as you are gathering the material now.

P.S. Please read Rick Perlstein's new column in the American Prospect on "The New Anti Anti-Semitism." It is very rich and useful...

I was head of the anti-war movement at Western Michigan. These protests are better than ours. The motivation is purely an act of conscience on the students behalf. We had the draft breathing down out throats. It's been encouraging to see the media pick up on the "false troupe" of outside agitators. Of course, those who care who aren't students are going to join. At least, this time they aren't swallowing it whole. As is true with all movements, the more it spreads the more likely it is that violence will occur. What hasn't been properly presented is the necessity of the leadership to maintain a non-violent posture. The police will provoke them, but they need to maintain their discipline. I once wrote a book about Gandhi. Without strong leadership, the cause will disintegrate. Mike is in a position to say something about this and I hope he will.

The Illusion of Justice's avatar

My name is Ted Martin. I just finished writing a book about my first hand encounters with a morbidly corrupt federal judicial system. The book is titled: The Illusion of Justice and contains documented, incontrovertible proof of widespread systemic corruption in the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, the Administrative Office of United States Courts, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Supreme Court not only ignored two of the most egregious cases of judicial misconduct imaginable (my cases) but also an amicus brief by former Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard Posner in which he blows the whistle on rampant corruption in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Judge Posner’s amicus brief is posted on the Supreme Court’s website at www.supremecourt.gov and can be accessed by typing in the following case number: Martin v. Living Essentials (Case No. 17-8352)

It will be painfully obvious to anyone who reads my book (or Judges Posner’s amicus brief) that the Supreme Court denies certiorari without even bothering to read the petitions submitted by the citizens of the United States. This obscene betrayal of the public trust is a clear-cut violation of every Justice’s judicial oath and a crime under federal law that is commonly referred to as honest services fraud.

In short, my book proves that the leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties have been conspiring together to pack the courts with corrupt corporate judges who will never side with the American people. This was abundantly clear when Senator Chuck Schumer and the other Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee repeatedly refused to use irrefutable evidence of judicial misconduct by Amy Coney Barrett (a Republican nominee) at her Supreme Court confirmation hearing.

This bipartisan band of seditious conspirators also refused to address the underlying corruption in clear violation of their oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

The only difference between the two major political parties is the rhetoric. The special interest groups running this country don’t give a damn which bribe taking stooge you vote for or even if you vote at all. They have already successfully rigged every election by controlling “our” choices.

The leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties have been caught red-handed conspiring to pack the courts with corrupt judges who will never side with you. If there was ever a reason to be a one issue voter, this is it. Besides, any politician caught lying about their fidelity to the Constitution and laws of the United States is obviously lying about everything—particularly their agenda.

Republicans push the corrupt corporate agenda. Democrats pretend to be opposed. Together, they sell their offices to the highest bidders. They foment war for the military industrial complex, promote racism for the prison industrial complex, refuse to restrict access to assault weapons for the gun manufactures, permit large quantities of toxic cancer causing chemicals to be dumped into our air, land, and water for the chemical manufactures, deny needed medical care to our country’s citizens for the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries, and turn a willful blind eye to the catastrophic effects of global warming for the fossil fuel industries. The list of their greed fueled crimes against humanity goes on and on.

Voting your current elected representatives out of office should be a no brainer. But, to make sure that they are not replaced with another batch of equally corrupt corporate stooges, we’re also going to have to take back both the Republican and Democratic parties and get the money out of politics.

While this may appear to be a daunting task, all we really need is a sound plan. After giving this matter some careful consideration, I have the following proposal: We agree to put aside all of our ideological differences and unite as Americans in support of the Constitution of the United States.

If you read my book, it really won’t be that difficult. You will know who the real enemy is and it certainly isn’t your fellow citizens. We just need to become one issue voters. Ignore their contrived wedge issues, bullshit talking points, and cringe worthy campaign ads. If they are not fighting tooth and nail to get the money out of politics—don’t legitimize them with your vote.

Seriously, if in doubt—throw them out. Besides, any government official who is not forcefully calling for the resignations of the corrupt leaders of their own political party is, by definition, violating their oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Whether Republican or Democrat, a treasonous corporate criminal is a treasonous corporate criminal, they serve the same master and nothing is going to change until we get the money out of politics.

*You get the money out of politics by publically funding elections, banning all campaign contributions, and, in exchange for their broadcasting/operating licenses, requiring news organizations to give every candidate for public office an equal amount of free advertising space.

In the future, I may write a book titled: The Illusion of Journalism. But for now, I’m just going to say that the media is not going to help anyone blow the whistle on their partners in crime. In the past four years, I couldn’t find a single news organization that hadn’t sold us out.

All an honest journalist would have to do is read Judge Posner’s amicus brief to know that the courts are irretrievably corrupt. Reading my book will conclusively show that the courts are corrupt by design.

If you want a government that actually acts in your best interests, I urge you and everyone you know to read my book as soon as possible. You can get a digital copy of my book free of charge at the link below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_vaMH1riLodzOfQn0kI7ow0RDrPM0NqE/view?usp=sharing

What happens if we actually read your book ?

.

What next ?

.

What is the reader supposed to do after that ?

.

Why don't we just short cut to whatever needs to be done and not waste time ?

.

Even better why don't we just short cut to PLAN-B

.

Be - ye the cause PLAN A will obviously fail.

.

If time is running out and things MUST be done.

.

Then what is the short cut to Plan B ?

In less than seven lines please @The Illusion of Justice.

.

Respectfully.

It's not enough that I know that government is run by a bunch of bribe taking criminals. Everyone who reads my book will know that the government is run by a bunch of bribe taking criminals. All I can do is give the facts--I can't make you read my book. But, if the American people read my book in large numbers, they will demand their representatives put an end to the system of legalized bribery that is the cause of all evil in the world.

We already did that - and what happens when Bernie dies or retires ?.

.

Everybody knows that - everybody.

.

So after every constituent that had pointed that out and has been dully ignored

.

What is Plan B ?

.

Unless millions of people march on the Capital in a very aggressive way - nothing will change.

.

Constitutional reform will never be taken seriously and meanwhile we backslide in to a Ray Dalio Future where no one has any equity at all - running on the Devil's treadmill just waiting for American "Health" 'Care" to murder millions of Americans.

.

So what is NEXT after that ? (after everybody of good faith and will has been 100% ignored ? ).

.

Then what ?

.

What's the plan "Stan" ? @The Illusion of Justice <---- SEE your handle works VERY well indeed.

.

Top marks go to "The Illusion of Justice".

- nice one (wink - thumbs up).

How do we fight against all that money that continues to corrupt our leadners? I would like to think that we have the numbers but it never works out that way. Any ideas? You'd think that loving their kids might change their hearts but that's not where their priorities are.

Or could refer to assholes (pardon my parlance)...

.

Those assholes that want to be included but don't actually have ANY skin in the game.

.

Diese Arschlöcher, die dabei sein wollen, aber eigentlich KEINE Haut im Spiel haben.

or ~ ^^^ can't quite craft it right... I'm sure there's a German idiomatic expression for the same.

.

Literally or figuratively (excluding individuals that might have a-priori) been flayed alive.

.

Or fickle pandering to groups that might ultimately damage their spotless white appearance. [Like a literal Hilliary Clinton ].

.

Super tricky if one depends on a "Swing vote"...

.

But at the same time you can't be seen pandering to the 'Deplorables" - especially if

one's main message is...

.

You are garbage - the people you associate with or are aligned with or are sympathetic too or work for are garbage ... VOTE for MEEEEE !

.

kind of thing.

.

It's those kinds of fickle and muddled "Schrödinger's " cat type overtures that Americans made to the Iranians (pre-1979) caused major self fulfilling damage to that region.

.

Sadly my mealy mouthed brother does exactly the same thing - very duplicitous - plays BOTH sides at the same time - but then you fins out he's fixing to stab you in the back anyway.

.

That's principally why NO-ONE in the Middle East will EVER trust the Americans ever again.

Unterstützen Sie mich nicht, nicht ausgeschlossen ?

.

"Don't support me, don't exclude me " ----> from "Do not support me left out not " @Charlotte.

I think that's what you meant.

.

or

.

Unterstützen Sie mich nicht, schließen Sie mich nicht aus.

.

In the UK we have a great expression - "If you sit on the fence - you get splinters up your arse ! "

.

Idiomatically maps - perhaps ?

.

"Wenn du auf dem Zaun sitzt, stecken dir Splitter in den Arsch! "

^^^ That actually works pretty well hahaha.

But German uses "One" as construct whereas confusing English / American English use "You" .

So man - one.

-

Wenn man auf dem Zaun sitzt, kriegt man Splitter in den Arsch
