I've always tipped 30% plus, not just because of my Uncle Bernie. I was trained long ago by my own personal experiences. I may boycott non-union Starbucks for not requiring better Covid protections etc.
(0:38) (say it softly, like a quiet stream in Vietnam)
NB The stars aren't very well seen in Denver. The mountains are best, especially for full moons. We just had the Wolf Moon. Still, I venture out at midnight when it's quiet to make my offerings and prayers to the Moon Goddess at a nearby preserve with a nice stream and bridge. Some of the ancient Greeks would simply pray, "My our lives be renewed as yours." And so do I as I pour out a good Minervois into the stream.
It may be the only reason I'm still here. Feeling our feelings is crucial to well-being.
I celebrate with you your arrival on this beautiful planet.
As for synchronicity, yes. I absolutely trust it.
And for Thich Nhat Hanh, lovely peace on his passing/crossing over.
I'll re-read his 1988 book "The Heart Of Understanding" this week.
Re: Desiderata, I too was struck. Not numb though-- more like connected.
1971. In my bedroom, listening to the radio. Out it came. I was 16.
Same sense I had the year before with S+G's "The Boxer".
I'm glad you have a preserve with stream and bridge nearby.
Water flowing along can remind us that life is not linear- motion is where it's at.
Even for us contemplatives. (I speak here for myself!).
Lastly, if you have interest in this-- a lovely interview with David Ditchfield on Anthony Chene's website. David had a near-death experience, and speaks of it-- he also wrote a book I'm loving-- "Shine On".
Glad you have family to hug! Do it often is my best suggestion. And hug yourself!
I have just finished reading in today's Guardian that parents in Afghanistan are selling their 6 and 8 year-old daughters, and their own kidneys, in order to feed their families due to the crushing poverty and famine there.
So stunningly heartbreaking to me.
And so this added note-- because it seems so la-la-fluffy-and-clueless of me to encourage hugs and smiles.
Even as I understand that keeping our own Spirits high is important in finding solutions.
I wish my home were big enough to care for every person whose sorrow I read about. It would need to be at least as big as the State Of Maine.
I need to say the Serenity Prayer now, so I'll sign off.
Jung helped a lot of us to know this, especially from our dreams.
When you see yourself in the mirror, do you see your best friend, Connie?
When you see yourself in the mirror of your dreams, who do you suppose that is? You? Guess again. Maybe ask them, like Jung.
Imaginary friends aren't so imaginary. It's how we live as long as we do.
Stories of soldiers waking up in a field hospital asking where there friend is who brought them in, only to be told they were by themselves, isn't unusual.
When I died some 30 years ago and felt such peace and happiness, a hand pulled me back, saying "Not yet." I was just being given a glimpse, and reminded to quit screwing up.
I've been pissed since. It's why I'm mostly off the wall and need to calm down. What's so hard with telling others, "There is light in the darkness and a peace that surpasses all understanding." (?)
I sometimes also say, "Jung was right about the archetypes," which only wrinkles their faces, as yours may now be.
But how do you suppose I'm able to write this?
Everything JRR Tolkien (pronounced toll-keen), wrote of is for everyone, not just his children as he intended. This great translator of The Jerusalem Bible saw what we're all up against as Jesus warned.
We just need to return the Ring of Power, like Frodo:
Jesus gave all glory to God, returning that power.
(Matthew 4:1-11)
The duality of good and evil goes back to Genesis. Eve was very brave. Jesus loved Mary Magdalene for her gnosis. The more we are aware and mindful, like Buddha, whom Thich Nhat Hanh made simple, we can know that peace.
It is about love and watching for what gets in the way, amending when we fail. As long as we're truly trying to learn, there is a certain grace.
It why the Dalai Lama meditates, watching for "negative stuff."
Please accept my apologies for saying so much that can overwhelm.
I'm just passing thru. But anyone can know their essence, maybe even take a ride across the moon. It happens.
When my tent collapsed from the wind on a snowy mountainside at 12,000 feet, I just lay there, figuring it'd still help retain heat. But then I was floating up into the sky and all around in outer space where there was no wind, only stars and a wonderful feeling.
No, I wasn't doing any drugs and hadn't for years.
It was part dream but also an out of body experience.
It's what I get for being too lazy to dig a snow cave.
So glad you shared about your out-of-body experience.
Makes your bio info make deeper sense to me.
I don't dream much, haven't read Jung, and I don't know the definitions of some of the words you use. Maybe others react as they do because they are like me, and it's just easier for them to make a face.
I don't ever think you are off the wall.
So never a need for any apologies to me.
All past stuff between us was cleared up in 2021, so let's leave it there.
New energies of 2022 all around us and within us!
Thanks for posting the links to stuff-- a loving act, making life easier for others. I believe every act of love elevates the planet.
Gotta go now, lots of Monday stuff to do.

Should be fabulous and a great way to end the day.
Inspiring, I especially loved their desire to make the company the best it can be. I also loved the impromptu back and forth with the customer service representative.
Hi Michael, Any word on your next movie night/live question/answer. Any chance you'd have Jon Stewart, Nina turner, Marianne Williamson, Krystal Ball, or even the oppositions view on?
Hi Michael! Thank you for having Jaz and Casey on to talk about their efforts to unionize Starbucks. Great conversation with them and with the customer service person from Starbucks in Nicaragua.
When I clicked the link to the script, I was taken to another page which provided a 404 error message.
However, I did use the Starbucks feedback form to send the message below. Hope it helps! Thank you again for your focus and attention on this topic. It's important.
Message I sent to Starbucks:
Hello! Long-time customer here! When I lived on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, I frequented the location at Spruce/18th street everyday. After moving to Santa Monica, there is not a location within easy walking distance to me, so I use Starbucks ground coffee exclusively to make it at home everyday.
I'm writing to request Starbucks corporation cooperate with their employees ("Partners") who are seeking to unionize. It seems to me that would be a part of Starbucks' fulfillment of its purported values. Please discontinue union-busting efforts (which are illegal), and cooperate with those seeking to unionize -- for the betterment of both employees and customers.
The union I belong to is CWA, which is Communications Workers of America. I work in a Reservations Call Center for a major commercial airline. It speaks volumes to me that Starbucks outsources it’s Customer Service Call Center to a foreign country to avoid having to pay US minimum wage and having to abide by labor laws here in the United States.
I haven't tipped because they have always spoken out of both sides of their hypocritical mouth! They talk about "Fair Trade", but then Union bust the workers at home who are not paid a living wage!! If we boycott them then that would be a start! I also saw the way they began the drive-throughs to make more money and make the "partners" work harder with out stopping, where there might be downtime if all sales are walk-ins! Of course we also have to be wary of Unions as I come from the Jimmy Hoffa time when Union heads were as corrupt as anyone! However, I wish all Starbuck's workers--even those in Nicaragua, a fighting chance at a better life. However, one must also be wary that Schultz won't be taking any pay or benefit increases out of his own pocket, but pass it off on consumers! That $9.00 Venti/Drizzled Brown sugar scoop macchiato will now be $15.00!!! Mark my words!
I think we're doing pretty good. It's not like there's any intent to impose. It's what I love about open communication. It helps to vent, or get things out, and learn from.
Having worked with the disabled in sport settings, mostly war veterans, it helps them to talk about life experiences. It can make a huge difference for them, hard as it can be at times.
Definitely set a limit, Carole. Don't feel like you need to take on everyone's psyche.
It can overburden one's own psyche. I've cried in my beer a few times.
But you know, when I feel I hear or understand what someone is saying and where they are coming from, I feel like I've learned something that helps me, especially if I can relate.
We are dealing with a white supremacist threat to our Democracy and well-being.
Climate Covid Coup as Michael says.
I learned about correlation reading Cindy Sheehan's book about Bush the 2nd when she described the increase of mental illnesses and the correlation with his crimes, lies and un-constitutional agenda of illegal wars, rendition and numerous vacations.
Michael had exposed all this in his epic Fahrenheit 9/11.
I've always tipped 30% plus, not just because of my Uncle Bernie. I was trained long ago by my own personal experiences. I may boycott non-union Starbucks for not requiring better Covid protections etc.

Thanks for the warm fuzzies, Connie.
Sorry I can be off my Platonic Wall sometimes.
It's why everything is so crazy with all the false or not quite true ideas Plato warned of.

You may know of Max Erhman's personal struggles that helped him write Desiderata:
It's true, when we love ourselves, we can love others, or at least not hate them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desiderata
I was fortunate to have a teacher who eloquently read Desiderata to us in high school.
I was struck numb. Old now, it brings tears to my eyes.
A girl I dated, her all-girl school had Desiderata for their prom theme.
Many cried, mostly because they were saying goodbye, going off to college.
This is really, very synchronistic with the passing of Thich Nhat Hanh and my bday.
He was forced to flee Vietnam because US forces and the VC wanted him dead.
Who else was murdered for speaking out for peace? Too many we can't forget.

Please know I appreciate the reminders. It's good to remember.
In seeking peace, we can know peace.
Even making a mantra of the names of the peaceful ones can bring peace.
I pray for Michael, religiously. His name comes up in many conversations.

Feeling our Feelings, honoring them and trying to understand is the key.
Thoughts and Desires can be harmful. We must choose wisely to know peace.
There lies our heart of hearts, where we love ourselves and so love others.
Even when unloved, sad and hurting.
Thank You for wishing me a Happy Birthday. Things like that make me happy.
Especially after my off the wall remarks last month. You forgave me.
Am I doing better? I try to. Men need help, you know.
Being struck numb by Desiderata in a class of young men was unavoidable.
Any show of feeling or emotion could get you in trouble.
Testosterone, male aggression and competition messed a lot of us up.
Suppressing feelings and emotions wreaks havoc.
What goes down will come back up.
My mother and girlfriend could see something was wrong.
Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society broke the ice for me.
I feel so much better, trying to be human and do what's right.
To be as nature intended, as the Gnostic Christ said in the Gospel of Mary.
"27) That is why the Good came into your midst, to the essence of every nature in order to restore it to its root."

I appreciate the efforts of all at Rumble.
I support unions, and those on strike as I write this.
Principles and common sense it seems to me.
Remembering the words of my dad when I treated others poorly-- "How would you like it?"
Dad always held a mirror up to me when I acted selfishly, and so I learned about fairness and respect, including self-respect.
We do need to be mirrors, or prophets, to one another. My grandkids help me.
Wonderful interview. Thanks. Long grow the unions.
Starbucks purports to have values. They don’t seem to value their employees and, thus, their customers.
Exactly. I often tell clients to take care of their people. They will take better care of their customers and the company as industry studies show.
Hi Michael, Any word on your next movie night/live question/answer. Any chance you'd have Jon Stewart, Nina turner, Marianne Williamson, Krystal Ball, or even the oppositions view on?
