Totally agree with you Michael! You hit the nail on the head. President Biden will be remembered as a great President who put our country before himself. Kamala will do a good job running against the grifter. The prosecutor vs the felon..
Well, whew! We can breathe again. However, I believe that Mark Kelly would make a better counterbalance to the Harris presidential ticket. I just, I just want to win. And I think that would be the better ticket. Also, full disclosure, I made phone calls for Mark Kelly's candidacy with the Sunrise people when he first ran for Senate.
There is no way men are going to vote for Kamala Harris and Harris/Whitmer would be too much for the men of this country to handle. I am having flashbacks when they overlooked Biden for Hilary. Have we learned nothing from history? I am not saying I disagree with these two, I just know this country is too backward to put these two in office. I hope they have a plan B.
Hillary lost by a sliver. The case against Trump is much stronger this time. All the misogynist men are already voting for Trump. I believe the woman vote will go off the scale this time, given all the horrific stories that have emerged after the Dobbs decision. Add to that the enthusiasm she will generate with black women, AND black men. Frankly, I think Kamala is just the juggernaut this situation has been waiting for. So damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, and let’s git ‘er dun. It’s GO TIME!
Don't compare Hilary to Kamala. When I was helping to do campaigns for Hilary in 2015 she did nothing to go out to places we asked her to speak with people. She really did not have an agenda and was so confident in the polls. She did win the popular vote in the end. People on her task force warned her about the 1 to 2 percent advantage points 3 weeks before election, but that's not enough to carry much weight in electoral college. Comey ruined her in the end by the Benganzi drama and she lost her 2 percent advantage 4 days before election. Kamala has nothing on her for republicans to pounce on which is why their scared now. .
I refused to vote for Hillary, Kamala is great. She was the first to call for a ceasefire and she and Joe will decide on her running mate. I agree that Two women maybe a bit much for the macho.
Can't wait to hear Kamala debate the Manchurian cantaloupe. Kelly. Hmm. Border critics oughta like him. I think Gretch has better name recognition. Women. Hmmm. Don't forget Hillary BEAT schmechel number-wise and did it in spite of Russia, Russia, Russian sabotage.
I agree, my first thought was two women on the ticket would be too much. A balance at this time would be preferable. I like Kelly - well respected candidate for VP but I don't want to lose a good Dem Senator. Not Pritzker, I like him, but he is needed in Illinois. I like Buttigieg, well educated, veteran of the US, would America be ready for a gay VP? That leaves Shapiro, Beshear and Conner. I don't know enough about those governors but if anyone would like to share their opinions I am very willing to listen.
I don't know Joe Biden personally, but he might need some time to grieve the end of a long career as a hard-working politician. He might have mixed feelings...some sadness but maybe some relief, as you suggest, Pat. He's had to push through grief and loss so often in his life that he may not really recognize when it's OK to hand the reigns over to someone else and take a rest. This act of stepping down, when there's so much more he personally wanted to accomplish for our country, is a noble, selfless act by a caring man, dedicated to preserving democracy for all of us. Sending much love and gratitude to Joe, Jill, and Hunter right now.
I’m 85, have rejoiced all day in the wisdom of Joe’s decision, imagining how relieved Jill & the rest of the Bidens surely are feeling…as usual your suggestions are bold, and good ideas,Michael…so thanks, but not sure Pres. Biden needs to step down, when he’s expressed how much he wants to finish his remaining months. I give thanks for his wisdom & honesty in supporting Kamala, who I think has what it takes to show the U.S. voters, in the coming weeks how imperative it is to elect Democrats to the Congress and White House! However, having longer than after the DNC to begin campaigning in earnest may be an advantage.
Maybe you're right though. I thought you were wrong about Joe stepping down but here we are, and you were right about that. Ya gotta love that man.
HE should make the decision. His years in office afford him the political savvy to make he call. Either way, there's nothing wrong with his mind, and he would give Kamala good counsel.
We know Biden is capable of making good decisions. I don’t think we should ask him to suffer the added humiliation of resigning his office. Now he can concentrate on his job and clean up whatever loose ends he wants to.
I love the combination of Joe being our president while Kamala's out campaigning. I feel totally protected by both of them and their energies aren't split like they would be if one person had to do both jobs at once. 💙👍
I agree! But we cannot have 2 women on the Dem ticket. This country is not ready for that. Gov. Roy Cooper would make a good VP candidate but we can’t lose that seat to the Republican Lt. Gov.. Unless they can secure another Dem in a special election. If not maybe the Kentucky governor where I believe the Lt. Gov. is also a Dem..
However, on second thought, Mark Kelly would be great and has so many positives including name recognition. He is a gun owner but wants common sense gun control, particularly due to the assassination attempt on his wife Gabby. Arizona is a swing state and Mark Kelly would bring a lot to the Harris ticket and since Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is a Dem, she would get to chose another Dem to back fill Mark Kelly's Senate seat. The only downside is that there would need to be a special election in 2 years rather than 4 for whatever Dem would back fill his Senate seat.
I don't know about being "ready" or not, but we haven't even elected one female president yet, much less two women on the ticket. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen, it just seems to elevate the risk factor and doing that on THIS election cycle seems too risky for me to be comfortable with. But I'd love a fiery, progressive, white guy, quick-witted like Buttigieg, competent and confident like several of the governors seem to be. I'd like to hear them speak publicly more often before the choice is made but that may not happen. I love Josh Shapiro but we may need someone closer to the South and/or Midwest to balance the ticket. We'll see!
Totally my thoughts. One is president and dealing with some challenging issues in his sunset months in this job. The other is running for President of the USA ... each needs to stay in their own lane and keep doing superb jobs of encountering their challenges.
We need Kelly to keep the Arizona Senate seat or we be lose the Senate. He is the only Dem who can keep that Senate seat since Arizona is more red than purple.
We, the Dem governor get to pick a Mark Kelly replacement if he is chosen for VP, but that means that seat (which ever Dem replaces Kelly if he is VP) would have to run again for that seat in 2 years instead of 4. The issue is , Is there any other Dem who can get elected in Arizona for that Senate set than Mark Kelly? I can't think of any one.
I am warming up to Gov. Wilz of Ililonis since he is high energy, a good speaker. Plus, would be replaced by a Dem Lt. Governor automatically and we get the midwest represented to pull in more midwest votes. He is a very likeable down to earth guy with very good values appealing to both left and right. Anti-gun violence advocate David Hogg has recommended him and warned Harris to not choose Gov. Shapiro. I agree since the Israel - Gaza issue has caused so much division. We can't risk endangering our chances to getting Kamala Harris elected.
I love the thought of two women, but I also like the thought that Pete Buttigieg would be a good vice president too. What do you think? Let’s hear from the audience.
Janis, I love Pete Buttigieg and I think he has the right combination of intelligence, quick wittedness, and unflappability that I think is absolutely necessary in this particular campaign with assholes like Donald Trump. But when I think about a ticket made up of a woman and a gay guy, a woman with Jewish ancestry married to a Jewish man. (I am Jewish, by the way) while that is my dream ticket, I wonder how many Midwestern and southern Americans heads would explode! 🤯😄
Love Buttgieg. Nonetheless I fear the prejudice that beset Hillary would be warmed over for Pete. He's great either way. But he could be just as terrific in an advisory or down-ballot role. The simmering elevation of consciousness that could make him a viable candidate in future is the same slow consciousness elevation that has now ripened a Kamala/Gretch ticket.
I really like Buttigieg, however, the same people who would not like two women on the ballot, may also disagree with a woman/gay ticket as well. Baby steps.......
I can't believe your antisemitism Michael. No one likes this war. Israel didn't ask for this fight. We have hostages to bring home. Yes the leadership of Israel is deplorable, and the war is horrible.
Michael Moore--anti-Semitic? Everyone in the world is seeing too many dead children, starving children, and Israeli settlers stomping on packages of noodles. Michael is not anti-Semitic. And neither am I, what with having lived and worked in Israel for ten months in 1975-76, a great grandfather buried on the Mount of Olives, studying Torah with a Jewish Congregation every other Saturday, over one hundred blood relatives in Israel and over 13,000 relatives by marriage there. Stop. You will not kill every Hamas member. If Hamas is "wiped out" (revenge usually backfires) then there will be other terrorist groups taking its place. There is no way to win this and Israel is destroying itself. This war has got to end. Or do you think that Israel should treat its Palestinian population the same way the US treated its native Indian population? I guess I didn't mention that I'm 99.9% Ashkenazi Jewish. Oops.
Absolutely…the longer Netanyahu’s killing of Palestinian innocents continues, the more backlash against the Israeli government. Michael is certainly not anti-Semitic! Many Jews are not Zionists…for which I’m very thankful…it’s religious fundamentalism no better than Christian or Moslem fundamentalism!!
I agree with you. Israel is destroying itself and I'm deeply worried. The war needs to end. You can't kill every Hamas member. Ive seen video of Israel loading up trucks and crossing into Gaza only to have them hijacked by gangs, and never reaching the children and families that need the aid. It's extremely frustrating.
The settlers that disrupt aid deliveries are truly horrible. I'm eager for a ceasefire and for the hostages to finally come home, for the people of Gaza to have peace and for the country to be rebuilt for them, without all the tunnels and bombs
I think Israel is in the same posture as we were in Viet Nam. Oct 7 = Tonkin, but enough already. I love the U.S. It's my country. But I objected to the war, and I object to the escalation in Gaza. We should have never let the downward spiral take us to My Lai et al.
Love jews. Hate Netanyahu. Probably a lot of Israelis are similarly situated.
Michael, this is exactly on point. First, President Biden should resign and elevate Vice-President Harris to president. The sooner the better! Not doing so would be illogical. Then, this wonderful man could get some rest, knowing he will go down in history as one of the country's greatest presidents. Then, please God! Let's give women a chance to repair this broken nation.
As usual, Michael, you have come up with a really wonderful plan for the Dems. My only concern is the idea of a 2 women ticket. Although most of the Neanderthals are beyond our reach over there in the MAGA camp, I think there are a lot of more progressive people, both men and women, who would be uncomfortable enough that they would need to find some reason for not supporting a two women ticket. Sexism, both Misogyny and the internalized type, is still alive and well in our culture, even though we are surely moving away from it. There are too many voters over the age of 60 who breathed it in before they had any defenses against it and have never really recovered completely from it. And of course, the size of the threat posed by the Project 2025ers is so huge that any little concern causes me enormous anxiety. Do you, Michael, have any data on that whole issue of a 2 Women Ticket? What do you know about it?
And thanks so much for connecting these dots and getting this post out so quickly after the world changed today!
I am in with the Spirited essay. I am in with Kamala, but not Whitmer. Why? We will never see Medicare for All if Whitmer is VP. We will never take down Medicare Advantage scam,if she is VP. Where does stand in the Holocaust in Gaza? Whitmer may be a good candidate but not a VP, at this moment.
The VP is President of the Senate. We need a policy wonk that communicates well from TX or the rustbelt. Someone’s who knows the Federal government and the impacts of Chevron ruling. The VP travels and speaks for the US. Imagine of these VP’s
Sherrod Brown, Ohio Senator for VP or
Julian Castro, former HUD Secretary under Obama, Mayor of San Antonio.
These people can unravel the weak Congress full of insurrectionists, the out of control Supreme Ct. and the media who never seems to get enough Trump.
Selecting an existing senator from a red or swing state for the veep would be a huge blunder for the Democrats because control over the senate is very tenuous. And choosing an existing senator from a blue state is pointless from a win-the-swing states pov. They have to select a governor or a very significant mayor (and not from a red state either).
Totally agree with you Michael! You hit the nail on the head. President Biden will be remembered as a great President who put our country before himself. Kamala will do a good job running against the grifter. The prosecutor vs the felon..
The prosecutor vs the felon WITHOUT HIS LAWYER!!!! Lol 😂.
Unqualified Praise for Biden ignores his support and arms for the Gaza and Ukraine bloodshed. That blood is on our hands.
Although I am against the fighting Gaza, I support the fighting in Ukraine. Like Poland was to Germany, Ukraine is to Russia.
see aaron mate who has detailed the ukraine situation which funny enough somehow never gets in the MSM
But do we really want to lose a respected Dem Senator?
Good point. Like most decisions there are pros and cons. I also like Andy Beshear, especially after he apologized to Diet Mountain Dew!
There is no way men are going to vote for Kamala Harris and Harris/Whitmer would be too much for the men of this country to handle. I am having flashbacks when they overlooked Biden for Hilary. And young people, who Joe has actively repelled.
Hillary won the popular vote.

Really? Why did men vote for her in MI? How did she win a large swing state? By double digits? Twice?
Bernie won the Michigan democratic primary defeating Hilary by a 50% to 48% margin
Michigan men may be more enlightened than maga men. What I don't understand is how maga women can support trump.
Linda, I agree.
I’m afraid so, too.
I agree, my first thought was two women on the ticket would be too much. A balance at this time would be preferable. Right on. Bet Joe Biden is having first good sleep he’s had in months.
I don't know Joe Biden personally, but he might need some time to grieve the end of a long career as a hard-working politician. I think they would literally crucify Kamala.
He’s already done it.
St. Joseph ! We should build him a statue and name an airport after him.
At the very least! How about a monument?
I'm 81, like Joe, and I couldn't agree with you more!
We know Biden is capable of making good decisions. I don’t think we should ask him to suffer the added humiliation of resigning his office. Now he can concentrate on his job and clean up whatever loose ends he wants to.

I was with you on Harris. I will firmly support her. Someone showed me Mark Kelly’s resume and I wondered ‘how did I not notice him?’
Mark Kelly would be a terrific choice for VP.
We need Kelly to keep the Arizona Senate seat or we be lose the Senate. He is the only Dem who can keep that Senate seat since Arizona is more red than purple.
That's what I say. Keep Kelly as senator since dems have such a slim nearly not there majority in the House.

Michael,
Whitmer has said numerous times, she is NOT running for any other office. She wants to remain Governor.
She will run. She has been aiming for this for a long time
Whitmer is not running now. She confirmed this.
Where, please?
I love the thought of two women, but I also like the thought that Pete Buttigieg would be a good vice president too. What do you think? Let’s hear from the audience.

I know, but a lot of red state women were very much against this span of abortion and I think we can count on them

There are many good potential candidates…as there were 4 years ago, when I wanted several before Biden.
I really like Buttigieg, however, the same people who would not like two women on the ballot, may also disagree with a woman/gay ticket as well. Baby steps.......
I am happy to be on your side - makes me feel better about the world.

Brilliant, Michael - this is a must share!
