Yes, in 2010 interim elections I knew highly committed, educated progressives who did not vote because they were angry that Obama didn't fulfill all promises in 1 1/2 years during a world financial crisis - so we gave the Tea Party power. Now we need to outnumber the folks who think "Keep her barefoot in the winter and pregnant in the summer" is a guide to marriage.

There is a glaring omission to the GOP to do list. That is, "destroy the planet and ignore climate change." This puts all of us in real danger of extinction in which case all of these other important "social issues" will be pretty much irrelevant. But then both parties routinely minimize environmental issues as somehow less important.

Why the Dems don't call out the GOP for all these things that they would implement (destroy) if they are to gain power again mystifies me.

Play rough. Be insistent. Be active and [try to] instill the same passion that the RWNJS use to rile up (and lie to) their voters and do it with easy to understand facts so they may look to for [different] answers.

We have no way of knowing what fact or argument will trigger a new thought that might get through to these people.

Remember, these people have been lied to by the GOP for my lifetime (70+ years) and are very set in their ways & ideals (which are based on lies and misinformation).

I know that it's very diffiCULT to change people's minds but just letting the GOP (GQP) to continue spreading their lies without any resistance is not the answer either.

After a similar number of years observing the devolution of the GOP, I too have grown weary of the lack of "fight" in opposition parties. Only once in this rough life have I ever managed a bully with words. It can happen, but only when they are at a tipping point. Not to advocate physical violence as the GOP now condones and promotes, instead continue to use legal and political tools to outsmart and prevent their own game. The more and longer they are exposed and called out the more they will scuttle for the nearest exit. Relentless Prevention translates to Relentless Pursuit and in greater numbers actively participating in the vote and voting support roles is only part. We must call em out everywhere as well! Takes guts to do so, but isn't that what Americans are known for?

I must admit though, I do miss the handshake that happens after a fair fight. Right or wrong at the start, both know they did their best and the results are accepted. The ones that don't shake you keep track of because they'll be back.

This is perfect!! Something should also be said about their love for their guns over the love for human life. They block every measure to control guns. Polls say the economy is the number one issue, however, politicians don't control the economy. Other complex factors control the economy. My primary concern is that guns are the #1 cause of death for children!

The two votes per precinct is how many votes Juan Vargas won by. When I walked precincts for Bernie in 2020 there were a lot of dem registered voters who were not going to vote. To convince them to vote, the first thing I said was, "You have the same power as David Koch when you vote." Well, first of all, David was the brother who had died, and secondly, most people didn't know who David, or Charles, Koch was. Next I tried the butterfly wings arguement. What got their attention was the story of Horton Hears a Who. When I got to the part where the townspeople on the speck of dust cried out, "We are here, we are here, we are here!" I saw the eyes tearing up. And the little yo-yo player in the basement making all the difference. I plan to walk my precinct, but it has an 85% voting rate. But I'll walk for other candidates this month when I'm not at work. Yes, you'll get a couple of doors slammed in your face, and wonder if you should walk through a gate or not, but you will get some great exercise and have some fabulous adventures with people you would never get to meet or know otherwise.

I'm trying to get someone's attention there, Mike, on what to do about the fact that I've been charged another $235 this year. It was not my intention to be on a yearly "subscription" basis with you. I'm poor. I need new glasses, etc. Please return the money which was paid by my credit card on the 16th of September and remove me from that yearly list. Thanks

Thank you, Mike!

Vote Forward is a great organization for people (us) to write letters to

for voting encouragement. You pick the amount of letters and the state you want to receive the

letters, print off the letters that are pre-written and add your own non- political reason you vote and

mail them at the appointed time. This is something everyone can do, even if you are home bound or not into phone banking (me) or canvassing (did it for Obama, but not me).

Please find what fits for you and get involved! PS- You can print letters at some library locations for free! (me also, since we are printerless).

FOOD! This is how phony we are when 64% of us are obese; another 10% are overweight. The CDC says the overall number is 73.4% too big. According to the Wellness Trinity: Eat Less; Exercise MORE; and Hydrate MISSING food is good!! Inflation is a fat person's best friend. The huge-sized bodies have eaten too many meals so they have to pay it forward-- eat less. Easy if the prices are high. I remember in France in 1987 and a butcher was slicing some ham. I told him to stop after 6 slices since it was already $12.00. Back in the USA the stack of ham sliced was higher than my eye and the price was $6.00!! Wow ! So good for my Keto or any other dumb diet. CAN'T we connect the dots?? Think of how the food workers will benefit from getting more money for their hard work if the prices are higher. If this country doesn't lose one billion pounds soon then we will SINK.

we have a big land mass so maybe not literally but if 64% are sick and then there are others with MS and Cancer etc we have a damaged population. The Military acknowledges private that they can't land an army -- though maybe that's good. Aside from the physical pain there is also the emotional distress. Democracy needs active people.

Dang! I was looking forward to reading a scoop about an actual "Republican Agenda" after Senator McConnell responsed to donors, lobbyists & senators at a dinner last November that the GOP won't release a legislative agenda before the 2022 midterms, that the entire focus of the 2022 campaign should be about the things the Democrats are doing wrong. At a press conference in January, Sen McConnell declined to offer any details about what Republicans would do in the event they recaptured both chambers of Congress in November. "That is a very good question," he told reporters. "And I'll let you know when we take it back."

We have Rick Scott’s 11-point plan relaunched as 12-point RescueAmerica.com Plan. Point 4 on Immigration includes “We will secure our border, finish building the wall, and name it after President Donald Trump.” Among bullets of Point 6 on Government Reform:

-- “Many government agencies should be either moved out of Washington or shuttered entirely”

-- “All federal legislation sunsets in 5 years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again.”

-- 12-year term limits for Congress and government employees.

-- “Force Congress to issue a report every year telling the public what they plan to do when Social Security and Medicare go bankrupt.”

US Rep Kevin McCarthy released a vague “Commitment to America” Preamble which includes committing to work with the Democrats to accomplish The People’s business: – ooops, it actually says that the Democrats “..are simply too partisan and out-of-touch to correct course now. So be it.” At the Preamble release “Ranking Member Jim Jordan (OH-04): ‘I thought the Leader said something really profound in his remarks. He said that ‘our job is to work for you, not come after you’.”

The Preamble morphed into more specific language in the GOP’s official “Commitment to America” which includes “..protect the lives of unborn children and their mothers, guarantee religious freedom…”

I’m inclined to agree with Eugene Robinson: “The only agenda that unifies the Republican Party is revenge”

Thanks for posting this ... Makes for a fascinating read just to gauge where people's heads are at.

Recently prompted by one of MM - tsunamigrams - the idea that various constellations of AGs are able to sue the President esp. in regard to Student Debt Forgiveness ($20K "Plan").

Eric Schmidt seems pretty active in this area with cases being brought of varying levels of credibility all the way out to the absolute wackadoodle-dandy.

This seems to be part and parcel of the "Job" of being president is to have one's arse routinely sued off - or at least in the attempt of.

https://ballotpedia.org/Multistate_lawsuits_against_the_federal_government_during_the_Biden_administration

As ^^^ the link language encompasses but the relative metrics for past presidents is VERY intriguing.

https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/missouri-gop-led-states-sue-biden-administration-to-block-student-loan-plan/article_5fc05998-4ee1-5e00-8a79-48ba67a89e96.html

^^^ More specifics...

Even in a bubble or under a rock one has to question Biden's "spine" or "Sincerity" re debt forgiveness - what is he afraid of, although I maintain it was something that he was NEVER keen on or something that he had framed in the past as sheer lunacy (in his view) as empathically explained at the podium during his presidential run and various "Debates".
