Totally agree. It seems that the media has been a pool of propaganda since trump entered the political field and the "why" of it is because he attracts an audience, whether you're a supporter or not, the attraction is there. That pays off big for the media, it sells and unfortunately, that seems to be the game. Fair, accurate, truthful journalism isn't the mainstream. Instead, it has to be searched out and that's why your voice is so important right now Michael. We will not let them win. Keep carrying on!

Thanks for keeping me sane! I constantly remind myself that reporters today are slaves to the media moguls who own these monopolies. They give the narritive they are told and bring people like you on the air when ratings dip. Be well and thanks for hanging in.

Thanks Mike, I’ve been calling out the media since Biden was inaugurated. They’ve been smarmy, sneaky and downright against reporting anything Biden has accomplished. Heather Cox Richardson makes this point also in her daily newsletter today. I don’t watch them. They’re trying to create a false narrative to spin the good the Biden administration has done into doom and gloom. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, some big but not insurmountable disappointments. I refuse to be swayed by what I now view as cheap, biased information. It certainly isn’t professional journalism. Women are infuriated by the SCOTUS Roe/Dobbs ruling. Dem should be doing a better job at keeping that anger lit. But, we all know they falter on messaging. Media and Trumplicans seem to be on the same side. Destroy Democracy. Who gives a crap about long predicted inflation and the gas price bogeymen when we’ve know since the late ‘70’s it’s corporate greed? We women have never been 1st class citizens are now being bullied back to full 2nd class citizen status. We are not giving up control of our destinies to appease the isms the Trumplicans embrace.

I saw the headline of The NY Times, I did not read the article. I do not pay attention to polls, I do not think they are effective in telling the whole story, how can they when this country's population has grown so large and diverse. I have been talking to younger people about this election and especially the ladies are fired up and waiting for the first early vote day to go to the polls and that means a lot. I have a friend in Florida who told me last night that she and her family, she has two kids of voting ages now, they are all ready to go to the polls, and they are not the only ones, her daughter has come out to them as lesbian, so in Florida they have even more reason to show up. Do not get discouraged, make a point of not listening to pundits in this last crucial few weeks, if you have the opportunity to vote early, do so and bring family members of voting age with you. We need every single voter in the coalition to show up. We only have one functioning party, one pro democracy party right now and we have to vote BLUE!

Great article, Mike!

High inflation is not the fault of Joe Biden or most of the Democrats. They did not set the HIGH PRICES for anything; oil, food and real estate at the top of the list. They ARE trying to make all of our lives more affordable in spite of the greed inherent in our system of commerce that doesn't know how to be kind or care for anyone else but themselves

America's wealthy and Big Business could afford to help us through these hard times, (even without raising THEIR taxes) if only they would step up to the plate themselves and hit a home run, instead of mostly thinking how they can take advantage of the situation to make record profits.

We are not enemies!

We need each other!

This is not survival of the fittest; we are not going to leave anyone behind.

We are going to survive by holding on to each other until we get the job done of making peace!

Robert Reich proved my point today in his posting regarding inflation. I have been questioning whether corporations are purposely refusing to lower profits as inflation becomes a big issue in the midterms and if Democrats are cooperating (even though it could cost them the election). Sure enough, speaking with insiders in Congress, that is what happened. Corporate leaders (big funders) have warned them not to talk about the main reason for the high inflation: huge corporate profits. The system is indeed massively rigged and I would not be surprised if there was interference in the OPEC meetings from American interests to keep gas prices high. This is going to be a huge battle to regain the country from the oligarchs. (I am NOT a conspiracy believer!)

I read you and I agree. I forward to my FB page. I'm offering everyone I know a ride to the polls. I don't know what else to do. I have no energy and feel close to suicidal. My wife has MSNBC blaring all day in the guest room - I've banned it from the house.

I want to believe that good always overcome bad. And that everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, then it's not the end…

I agree! I can’t even listen to the mainstream media any more. It’s unconscionable what they are writing and who they consider representative to interview.

This past Sunday I had to turn off “CBS Sunday Morning” after its slanted story about deep red parts of Oregon wanting to leave and join Idaho! Stories we’re decidedly slanted Republican without equal interviews and retort from the dem side. Can’t listen to this pro red dribble!

So… we need to fight like hell, with our votes, like you said Michael ,to overcome the media slanting of the truth . Let’s not make their reporting a self fulfilling prophesy.

Get everyone you can to the polls and continue to encourage young people to vote. The majority is only useful if they vote.

The hell with the can of beans (or was it soup?) rising… let’s continue to promote the bigger issues and the threat to women, the people of color and our democracy.

Continue your great work, while healing , Michael. We need your voice of reason!

The old chant… we did in Vietnam war protests is even more important today.

“The Power of the people will never be defeated!” (If we ALL Vote!)

Thank you for your continued encouragement regarding the upcoming election. I agree, we should all do our part towards victory! Thanks also for resources to get involved. I am writing letters with Vote Forward, one of the resources you provided. It is inexpensive, COVID safe and an effective way to make a difference! It only takes a few minutes to sign up and you are only asked to print off 20 single sided letters, you provide stamps and envelopes for. Oh yes, and you are just asked to provide 1 - 3 sentences in the letter indicating why you vote. Thank you, thank you!!

There are times when your "gut" tells you to turn off the News and listen to your own Wisdom. I turned off the News for 20 years and found I lived in a far safer world, happier with not comparing my life to others. Clear to stand up to the real dangers that confront us - climate change, authoritarianism, the dominator paradigm. Don't be discouraged. We are the Change we wish to see.

It has been a recent onslaught of News like, when the Republicans regain the house, this will happen... As if it's a foregone conclusion. Also the Polls say the same to back it up as if it's truth. I've also heard the talking heads say that if the Polls are close, the Magats will win because they are less likely to express their true opinion in polls. Then what good are the polls? Like you say Michael, if mad Dems turn out and vote, the majority will win. If apathy prevails, the Magats win and democracy loses.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!The fearmongering with stating that Repubs will win Midterms is nauseating, and yes fearful. Even the more liberal news doesn't share things like this, why is that? I hope you 100% on target Michael Moore, this assault on our Democracy has to end. Would like to hear your thoughts on chances of Beto in Texas. How can any decent human being vote for Abbott?

I have stopped believing in polls of any kind. I hear them, I see them, but I give them the attention they deserve -- none. Polling is a money-making industry just like many others in the country (Yea capitalism! Ugh!) and they have a purpose to them that, I believe, is not to just reveal "things" they poll. The polls since Biden took office are very hard to believe. He's had Trump-level polling numbers since then, and I find that, short of some nefarious planning going on, unbelievable. I am not a conspiracy theorist. All of the conspiracy theories we've all heard over the past seven years are ridiculous on their face, but the polling AND inflation gives me pause. What party would big corporations rather have in control to prop up their ill-gotten profits? Republicans. Inflation out of control? What sector is able to MAKE that happen until their favored party is back? Big corporations. Maybe I'm nuts, but this seems dimple to me.

VOTE!! (While we still can.)

I saw an interview with Anand Giridheradas on Morning Joe this morning. He was highlighting his new book "The Persuaders". He was advocating a deep 20-30min door knocking approach that listens to people's concerns with the idea of discussing their concerns and offering alternative viewpoints that they may not have considered. Kind of like what these Tsunami Truth podcasts are doing.

Thank you - needed that reality adjustment. Had to sit through Politics Monday on the PBS Newshour where Tamara Keith, Amy Walters, and Judy Woodruff all spun the same narrative that Democrats’ momentum had lost steam. Based on polling from pollsters who got it so wrong in 2016. They still see this as sacrosanct predictors of what will happen. We’ll see…
