I know everyone is focused on Manchin and Sinema, but why not blame the Republicans instead. Isn’t there two Republican senators out of fifty that care about the United States of America? If two Republicans senators would speak their conscience, they would negate Manchin and Sinema entirely. Biden, Pelosi and Schumer should focus on pulling two R senators to join saving the Country and let Manchin and Sinema pound sand. Frankly, I am tired of them.

Sinema and Manchin, I will honor neither with the title 'Senator", are anything but Democrats and should be voted out of the party as soon as possible. Sinema's behavior in particular, while being just as obviously obstructive as Manchin, is petulant, obnoxious, contemptuous, and frankly quite childish as well. She appears to have no concept of accountability or responsibility. She more "right"ly belongs with the Repuke'licans and their sole objective of obstructing any and all legislation, not on merit but simply because it originates with the Democrats. This is further proof that we don't need the Senate! One body of legislators, the House, which at least "represents the people" is adequate to the task of making our laws. The Senate is a totally unnecessary, extra body of people, on the public payroll, who are currently getting paid for doing exactly NOTHING!! Can anything better illustrate the fact that they are unnecessary???

I live in West Virginia so I've completely lost any hope Senator Manchin will help our poor state. I truly believe he is as corrupt as the rest of them. It's like watching the fall of Rome. With what had happened to our country. All hope is gone.

They're already planning on it. Manchin will be gone next election. He sold out to the energy corporations and sold his soul to boot. My dad's side of the family moved to WVA when it became a free state to break with our Confederate relations.

An email from The Intercept says a group called No Labels is promising to give "two conservative Dems" about $200k for their campaigns if they in return stop the larger infrastructure bill/reconciliation. if true, really low bribe amount for destroying your President and his party!

Great to hear Omar and the suggestion to call the 2 holdout democratic senators is brilliant. Imagine if millions of their constituents call.

Has anyone considered the possibility of turning two Republicans? There must be two who can see that the overwhelming majority of the people in this country, and the overwhelming majority of their constituents, are in favor of passing the infrastructure bill. There must be some whose chances of reelection are better if they satisfy the needs of their constituents. Why whine about Manchin and Sinema? They are who they are. Spend the time and energy making an effort to replace them.

I may have been having a pollyanna moment. Murkowski should listen, though. She's in trouble. Up for reelection in 2022. Trump is putting someone up against her. I live in Maine during the summer and was here last winter, too. The Democrats tried very hard to replace Collins in 2020. It should have been possible after some of the nonsense she spouted during Trump's first impeachment. But....

Thanks you for your podcast. Please raise a stink over the DeJoy flying this proposal under the radar. He is trying to replace the aging USPS fleet with only 10% electric vehicles with a retrofit option for the rest if need be. We need 100% electric vehicles now. Also he's giving the contract to OSHKOSH Defense, Oshkosh Wisconsin.. They are going to get millions to set up the manufacturing in the US. Why OSHKOSH? Who is making money off this? https://link.usps.com/2021/02/23/new-vehicles/

Michael-- I followed your suggestion and called both Sen. Sinema and Sen. Manchin. No human answered, but I left a polite but firm voicemail for each, urging them to support President Biden's Build Back Better bill. If I read the polls correctly, it's in their political interest to do so, with 70+% of their own constituents supporting both Biden's bills -- especially when they find out who's going to pay for them! So it befuddled me as to why they won't -- and then I remembered someone's (yours?) sage advice: "Follow the money. Always follow the money." Of course! They are voting in the interest of their largest financial supporters, in Manchin's case the coal industry, which has not only contributed piles of coal-dusty cash, but he owns a coal company! This has to stop. We desperately need campaign finance reform, beginning with an end to Citizens United. It will be too late by their next elections, but I think they will be defeated precisely because they refused to support bills that are so popular among their constituents.

Michael, thanks. In return, here is $142 trillion for you.

That is the net wealth of the households of the United States, according to a mysterious, radical, extremist, fringe organization calling itself 'The US Federal Reserve.' They publish every quarter, and the financial press puts it in a headline, and then poof! it disappears for three months. They call it 'net worth,' but it's money and stuff, not worth. It is wealth, however.

If you ask someone you think is smart what that number is, I predict they will say something like, 'well, everybody knows we are under water.' No. 142 trillion times no. That number grew $24 trillion in the 12 months to 30 June. It is just over $1 million per household, so it is not anywhere near as insane as it first sounds.

In comparison, $350 billion or $500 billion per year for fundamental investment is couch cushion money for the very rich. 1% of $142 trillion is of course about $1.5 trillion.

So why do we never hear or read, in my experience, this number when we are asked the queisotn 'what can we afford?' There are many answers, but it has to stop, and I say we have to put the wealth number out there front and center.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done, as we all know. Look around.

Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Senator Joe Manchin are ignoring their constituents and the vast majority of Americans who want and need the Reconciliation Bill passed. We'll pay for it. For once the wealthy will have to pay their fair share, especially when they've eroded the middle class and raised the poverty level. It's clear that Sinema and Manchin are protecting the wealthy to defeat this bill rather than support those of us who made them wealthy. It's why Republicans are against it. History shows what will eventually happen. Sinema is a former school social worker who's sold out to corporate America to pad her pocket, like Joltn' Joe.

I am going for heart surgery on October 12. I am too ill to do telephoning. If the hospital was not overrun with COVID patients I would not have to suffer like this as my heart would be repaired. I am 90 and a year ago I walked a treadmill. Did Yoga. Lifted weights. Did balance exercises. Now all I can do is sit and walk inside. I am fanatical about politics and have been a fan of your ,Mike for years. I support you in all you do as you are honest,

What is taking this Nation down is lies subterfuge and dishonesty. When the leader of the Country tells his followers not to listen to the media.that everything they report is faux. He is the one to listen to and believe and tells 22.000 lies with people believing him. When he advises listeners to trust Russian intelligence over our own are we a United or divided Nation. His Impeachment’s were discarded when in truth they were accurate. He was guilty. And now his followers are undermining the one attempt to Ujnie our Nation for improvement. Not for war. Yet his flowers who do not read,I am convinced would cough up any funds asker for to the Pentagon for weapons. It’s time to reflect what’s happened to us as a people.

This I my mantra. Get the thinking public to rise up and denounce the LIE.

Make America Great again by doing away with its cancer.

STARGEEZER

Mike — Unless I am somehow misinformed despite over four thousand files in my several PCs accumulated from decades of readaholic addition to understanding, accumulated from worldwide recognized sources over 5+ decades, our country is in a soon to be fatal debt spiral, the planning of which occurred decades ago (Jekyll Island ) and has lost all ability to resist due to the similarly planned loss of our basic culture to clever use of the Dunning & Kruger phenomenon. Our phony MONOPOLY munny debt is controlled by the purported 100 trillion Rothschild ‘system’. So now we want to ‘pass GO’ to finish the game AND US ? Rot’sa ruck with that. FWIW, I do not make mistakes in social/political prognosis of reality. I thöt I did once but I was wrong.🤭
