Hi Michael,
Here's what I started with the help of some High School students.
The Gandhi Peace Brigade grew from a desire to influence the U.S. government's decision to invade Iraq. The Gandhi Puppet was created as our country prepared for war in 2002. He is a labor of love that has evolved over three years. He now stands more than 10 feet tall and is dressed in an authentically tailored Indian garment. He was built with the support of over 60 sponsors.
In the summer of 2004 The Gandhi Peace Brigade toured the United States and encouraged people to vote in the presidential election. Currently we are visiting schools, parades, fairs, and gatherings to spread the message of nonviolence and to circulate a Children's Petition for Peace. We hope to eventually send this petition to schools around the world, concluding with a presentation at the United Nations.
