Elected officials, supporters, customers and remodeling contractors will join New Era Window Cooperative worker/owners in celebrating the grand opening of New Era Windows Cooperative, a unionized, 100% worker owned and operated business.
Almost a year to the day after their window factory closed, a group of former Republic Windows and Doors workers are launching their own window business without bosses. They successfully raised capital to buy the factory together and run it democratically.
It’s been an amazing struggle to found a worker-run cooperative and save good manufacturing jobs in Chicago. We are so happy to announce that New Era Windows is up and running, producing high quality, energy efficient windows at affordable prices.
