Stupid White Men hits #1 on national bestseller list -- Thank You Everyone!
Dear friends,
My book, the one that was apparently on its way to a big, nasty shredding machine just weeks ago, has now gone to number one on the Amazon.com bestseller list (fiction and nonfiction, hardcover and paperback combined)! I can't thank all of you enough for making this happen. The response has caught everyone by surprise, and the book is now on its way to its fifth printing after being in release for only 3 days. Thank you so much!
I am keeping a diary of my book tour on my website, and I'd like to invite you to check it out each day for the next month or so.
Also, please note that new cities are being added to the book tour. Go to my website over the next week and hopefully you'll see your town. I should be out in the Northwest in early to mid-April, I'm coming to Austin on March 23, I'll be spending a week traveling across Canada, and this coming week I'm in D.C. (Arlington), Boston (Cambridge), and Providence. C-SPAN is taping a panel I am on this Sunday night (to be broadcast later). Monday night I'm doing an online chat on WashingtonPost.com at 11pm.
Thanks again for all the great letters you've sent and I am sorry I can't respond to all of them. And the offers of web help -- incredible. I think I may actually get literate!
Oh, one other thing -- the right wing nuts have put out a call to arms on their web sites to jam the Amazon site with bad reviews of the book (which they haven't read) to try to bring its ranking down. The reviews are hilarious, and it's great to see them going insane because a book from our side of the political fence has gone to the top. I mean, it has them unglued!
They can't believe this many Americans are supporting something that questions what they are up to with their boy W. in the White House. With the Zogby poll last Sunday showing Bush's approval rating at its lowest since before September 11, and slipping every day, they know it's only a matter of time that we all stop a much worse shredding from taking place -- that of our constitution, our civil liberties, and our right to not have an Attorney General who spends $8,000 of taxpayers' money on a curtain to cover up the statue of Lady Justice at the Justice Department because she has breasts. The tide is turning. They know it. More gold medals! USA! USA! USA!
