Finally, It's Here: "The Awful Truth" 2nd Season on Home Video

Dear Friends,

It's been a while since we've talked, and perhaps later this week I can write again and tell you what's been up and share my take on the events that are now smack-dabbing us in the face.

This e-mail is to announce (drum-roll!) that New Video has pushed ahead their schedule and is releasing the second season of "The Awful Truth" on home video as of TODAY! It won't go on sale/rent to the general public until January, but they are making it available to all of you on our list, effective immediately, at a discount rate (they tell me if you mention the words, "Mike's Militia," you get 10% off). They have also told me that they are guaranteeing delivery before Christmas for those who order by Wednesday.

The box set includes the entire second season (uncensored) of all 12 episodes. The DVD version also has a separate track with my running commentary on four of the episodes. On these tracks I wax on about how we got a Presidential candidate to jump into our mosh pit, how we installed an actual pimp in Congress, and why the NRA refused our offer of a 7-foot gun. You can also hear me wondering aloud why any network in their right (corporate) mind would ever put this show on the air, plus loads of other dirt that will probably get me in some sort of trouble.

The set contains either 3 VHS tapes or two DVDs. You can't get them in stores right now -- they are only available by calling 1-800-314-8822 or going to www.docurama.com.

New Video's "Docurama" division has done an excellent job making our show available especially to those who could not get Bravo and were not able to see it. As great as our first season was, this second season, IMHO, was by all accounts our best work ever on TV. We received our 4th-in-a-row Primetime Emmy nomination, plus a nomination from the Writers Guild, and the L.A. Times television critic called "The Awful Truth" the "smartest, meanest, and funniest show on TV."

So, I hope you can take advantage of this chance to either see the show for the first time or to share it with your conservative but well-meaning brother-in-law for Christmas.

As far as the future of the show, the network has still never said "no" to more episodes, but perhaps I should take the lack of a beautifully-wrapped fruitcake delivered to me this holiday season as a hint.

It certainly hasn't gotten any easier in the past few months making an alternative voice (a voice I know that is shared by millions) available and accessible to the American public.
