Mélida Arredondo
Mélida Arredondo is a peace and anti-suicide activist together with her husband Carlos Arredondo, and stepmother of Alex and Brian Arredondo.
This morning I woke and turned on the radio as I entered the bathroom. The local news was reporting that the two suspects had struck again by robbing a 711 convenience store in Central Square, Cambrdge. Then there was a shootout. One MIT security guard was shot as well as a policeman. One died the other in critical condition.
Now the Greater Boston area is shut down. No trains, buses, taxes. We are all told to stay in place (home or work), wherever you are.
The 19 year old younger brother is on the run, armed with explosives and dangerous.
The attached picture is that of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is a 19 year old, who graduated from Cambridge Ridge and Latin. He is on the loose. His brother was killed in a shoot out last night. His Dad who is in Russia says calls his son an angel who is medical school. This is his Dad. I hope that Dzhokhar feels this love and turns himself in.
The anxiety level that Carlos and I personally have been experiencing has been extremely high since Monday's bombings that we both witnessed just feet from us at Copley Square, the finish line to the Boston Marathon. Carlos was named a "hero" for his humanity in helping Jeff Bauman, who despite losing his legs was able to tell the FBI identifying the attackers. The media has gone crazy about Carlos' efforts and have been camped out at our home beginning Tuesday am and ending last night. This intensified our stress level.
Now the fact that this ongoing drama is impacting us so closely has definitely raised my blood pressure.
This is the time to mediate, pray, send out positive energy for all of humanity. The violence must stop. I personally pray that no more are killed or injured. The impact upon our collective societal psyche I hope generates goodness towards one another and not the need for vindication.
