Already many adventures and stories to tell. On the way in, I stopped at the home of one of the Veterans for Peace I met at Freedom Plaza and did a great interview. We then met Joan Livingston of Occupy Boston who had plenty to say. Next, I picked up my flu ridden partner, Denise, at the airport. She's definitely got the flu, but I think she'll live. We didn't want to infect any friendly hosts, so we had our first hotel expense. Yikes! And, I totally forgot that my friends and financial advisors Greg Garvan and Brady Quirk-Garvan at Natural Investments in So. Carolina told me they'd help with hotel rooms if we got in a pinch. Important things to remember. But, I was also grappling with the fact that I got a call from Nancy Brennan, our host from our next stop in New Hampshire, letting us know that she's come down with the flu and didn't think it wise for us to stay with them. So, there I was, only hours into our journey Searching for Occupy, standing on a street corner in Cambridge with no place to stay. Amazingly, I shrugged my shoulders and reasoned, "It's an OccuAdventure". I found the hotel for Denise, then called my son-in-law, Ben Powell, who is staying in Maine (where we need to be in two days), and we have a place to go!!!
So, I tucked Denise in bed and rushed off an hour late to meet John Dwyer and Rene Perez at UnRegular Radio where they do a show "Banned in Boston". Both of them were majorly involved in the encampment in Boston, and gave a great interview and perspective on where they this Occupy has been and is or isn't going. From there, they and two women who worked with Rene on OB Logistics (now they all live together) accompanied me to an OB SAS - Strategic Action Assembly - where plans are underway to build barges for the homeless and travel to Maine for the Jan. 26 New England Environmental Convergence.
It was an amazing first day. Now we have a couple interviews, then we head for Maine!! The Search is ON!!!!
