Ron Paul has gone too far this time. He has simply stepped over the line on this one. For those of you that missed it, this past Wednesday, he was at the National Press Club and said that the killing of Anwal Al-Awlaki was a violation of our country’s Fifth Amendment that guarantees due process. He continued to say that President Obama, by ordering the drone strike that led to Al-Awlaki’s death, committed an impeachable offense. Look Ron, if you want to become President, have better ideas than the guy. Don’t just randomly sputter out things like a kook.
That made me feel better. Someone needed to say it. I’ll say it again. Ron Paul is a kook. Let me say this though, I do agree with Ron Paul on some issues. But what I do agree with him on pales in comparison to the random gibberish that he spouts out every time he sees a chance to discredit President Obama. At least with gentlemen like Romney, Rick Perry and Herman Cain; they try to combat the President’s ideals with what they think are better ideas. I’m not so sure if Congressman Paul even realizes of believes half the things he is saying.
First of all, Ron, Aw-Awlaki was not an American citizen. The second you move to another country, align yourself with terrorists, begin orchestrating attacks on the United States; you forfeit your rights as an American citizen. It’s well known that he played a part in the Fort Hood shooting. A terrorist attack that occurred in your state. And you are upset we didn’t give him the courtesy of a fair trial? Usually for someone to get that they have to actually be in the country when they committed the crime right? Just because he learned his ABC’s in an American school doesn’t amount to a hill of beans to most Americans. It sure as hell shouldn’t to anyone that is currently serving in the military or has served like myself. He gave up his rights as an American the second he left the country and started attacking Americans. And boasting about it.
So for anyone to buy into Ron Paul’s rhetoric concerning any potential impeachment of Obama for ordering the killing of Al-Awlaki is ludicrous. Congressman Paul wonders why he is being ignored by the media. It’s for stupid statements like this. There should have been no trial to begin with. That wasn’t an American citizen. It was someone that was directly targeting America from abroad. So Ron Paul once again is sticking his foot in his mouth. Although I directly support his stance on getting the troops home as soon as possible; this is one blanket statement that simply cannot be ignored. As a guy that caused myself and other veterans to be put into harm’s way due to his actions, he shouldn’t have been given the courtesy that Ron Paul is suggesting.
