But they are. Think about this for five seconds. Think of all the money that could have gone to worthy causes. That could have helped build someone a house that needed a house. Wasted over a period of three days grandstanding and stalling to make an official decision that had been made in the minds of millions in each political party. Was there going to be some sort of obstacle course that Mitt Romney had to get through in a certain time or the GOP was going to give the nomination to Newt Gingrich? No, there wasn't.
Now look at the Democratic convention. Is there any doubt that President Obama is going to be handed the nomination for his party on a silver platter? Guess what kids, nope on that one either. I may not be a political science major, nor am I what you would call an established newsman. I'm sure some reading this likely think who the hell is this guy and what business does he have jabbering on about this seemingly necessary part of the political process? I'm sure this little nugget we can all agree on.
The conventions are a waste of time and money that could be spent other places. You want to protest something, protest the fact that each major political party spends enough money on balloons every four years to lift an entire urban neighborhood three feet off the ground and they are arguing with each other over wasteful spending. We should start telling the people at the heads of the political parties that if they spent one tenth of their balloon budget on actually helping someone instead of trying to discredit the other guys, our country might be a little better off. Of course that's just my opinion, I could have the whole thing terribly backwards.
