SOLDIER LETTERS

Subject: From a Korean War Vet.

I enjoy the email I receive from you and forward it to my mailing list. I served during the Korean War as a medic. I have had some health problems and have used the VA when I did not have medical insurance. I attempted to put in for disability when discharged but heard nothing. Years later I tried again and asked for my records and was told many of them were destroyed in a fire at the VA. So I am basically screwed. Who am I to fight the US Government and especially the military complex. One must realize that the things you were promised when you received your "greetings letter" diminish over time. At this time the VA has the US Treasury deducting an amount from my social security check each month while continuing to charge me interest on the amount owed. I had knee replacement surgery 4 months ago and my physical therapy was reduced because we must support King George's war with Iraq. Hell, this is the way it is in this country - the politicians want to know what you have done for them today. If you have done nothing, they don't know you. I am not an attorney but intend to file suit against the VA next year. Wish me luck.

Do the present military grunts realize that down the line when they need help from the government it will not be forthcoming?
