Subject: Thank You
Mr. Moore,
Thank you for all that you do for our country and especially for our troops. Thank you for standing up for what you believe in and not backing away from intimidation. I served in the Army for eight years and decided not to reenlist in 1991 after returning from the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Shield / Storm. My unit, which was the major headquarters command for all the army forces in country, deployed without weapons because they were never authorized. In other words the DOD never planned on our headquarters ever being deployed so our personnel arrived on August 8, 1990 in Saudi Arabia to help defend the kingdom from an advancing aggressor with nothing more then a Swiss army knife, a credit card and a passport. A Swiss army knife because our commander (a three star general) thought they were cool, a credit card to purchase a plane ticket in the event of an emergency, and the passport to get us out of the country without having to show our military id. We were told if we were over run by the enemy to try to "blend in" with the locals, find your way to the airport and purchase a ticket to a "friendly country" or back to the US if possible. Luckily, we never had test our Swiss army knives but many times wanted to purchase that plane ticket.
What our troops are going through now is horrible. The military is not for the purpose of helping BIG BUSINESS clear a path to resources so they can earn huge profits. I commend you for your work and standing your ground. You deserve a medal of honor!
with much respect,
