Subject: Letters the Troops Have Sent Me... by Michael Moore
Dear Michael Moore:
Thank you for the above referenced letter. I am the mother of an Army infantry soldier stationed in ________. He will be leaving for Afghanistan in April. I am very proud of my son and the fact that he is serving his country. However, I am afraid for him at the same time. Also, I do know that we are in Iraq for one thing only, and that is the oil, but we still need to let our service people know that we are proud of them, and they need to know that they are doing something for their country. My son is not from a poor background and he has a degree. He signed up for a lot of different reasons, one being that he wanted to serve his country. He is my only child, and I pray that God will look over him and bring him home safely.
I think that you are a very good and brave American. Your voice is important. We need to REMIND the people of this country that we went to Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction. That fact has now been glossed over with Saddam Hussein and other issues. The present administration is very crafty, very manipulative. Unfortunately, it's so easy to snow the people these days, and that's a scary thing. We need to be vocal about the weapons of mass destruction and DEMAND to know where they are. Harass the government, harass the press into acknowledging that we are there to find these weapons. I heard a military mom say on the news the other day something to the affect that we were supposed to be in Iraq to find the weapons of mass destruction, and she was wondering what happened to that mission. More people need to be asking that question.
A proud Army mom,
Virginia Schumacher
