Subject: Cause to question....
Mike,
I am a 57 year old Viet Nam Vet and generally have held moderate views with
a strong leaning to support our armed forces and, whenever possible, our Government.
I have to take time out to thank you for causing me to stop one moment, and
question just exactly what in the hell is going on in these whacked out times.
Even though I've felt somewhat uneasy about it, I've tried my darndest to support
our efforts in Iraq. I felt confident about going after the Taliban/Al Qaeda
lunatics in Afghanistan, but definitely felt we were pushing the envelope going
into Iraq.....Is Saddam a bad guy.....hell yes, but we certainly can't deploy
troops to every place in the world where "bad guys" reign (Especially
when we have supported some of the worst).
What we can do, is support any oppressed people in any way we can with the
co-operation of other nations.
After seeing "Bowling for Columbine" and now reading your book, "Dude,
Where's my Country"... I seem to be waking out of a deep apathetic slumber,
waving my arms and yelling "What the f*** is going on here"...!!!!
I work in the Engineering field which is predominately right wing Bush can
do no wrong freedom fries for lunch crowd.......and when I've mentioned your
name, or your books or movies....the response has never been flattering to you......the
nicest thing I've heard is that you are a waaaaay left wing nutcase.
I'm not crazy about the extreme left or right… I probably lean more towards
the Libertarian philosophy, but they can get a bit whacked out themselves.
I would like to think that there are many of us that would just like to live
as free as possible, with a little compassion for others and--"jeepers
creepers"--a little truth from our "fat cats".....!!!!
In any case, I just want to thank you for everything you do, and reminding
us all to "Question Authority"... (I remember that from the 60's....ha..!!)
Your new friend,
Walter Hendricks
